Tsvetomira Filipova (born 5 January 1969) is a former Bulgarian rhythmic gymnast and coach of the Canadian senior national group.

Biography

Filipova grew up and studied in Kyustendil, where she began training at the local school of rhythmic gymnastics.

In 1983 she took part in the World Championships in Strasbourg, winning gold as part of the group. [1] The following year she was among the gymnasts that took part in the control competition to choose the Bulgarian representative for the 1984 Olympic Games, the first to feature rhythmic gymnastics, in the end the Soviet block boycotted the games. [2] [3] In 1985 she won All-Around gold at the Intervision Cup in Havana. [4]

Tsvetomira competed at the inaugural Goodwill Games in Moscow in 1986, taking 4th place in the All-Around, 2nd with ball, 3rd with clubs, 4th with rope, and 5th with ribbon. [5]

After her retirement she moved to Canada to work with the Cirque du Soleil. Based in Toronto she currently works as the coach of the Canadian senior group, her husband Banko Panov, a graduate from the school of the Bolshoi Theater, is the choreographer and their daughter Vanessa is a member of the ensemble. Kamelia Petrova is a Bulgarian rhythmic gymnast. She is world champion in All-around with the Bulgarian team at the world championship 2022 in Sofia and world champion in final with 3 ribbons+2balls. She is the European all-around champion and team champion with the Bulgarian team in 2023 and 2024, as well as a silver medalist in the 5-hoop final. She was All-Around, 5 balls and 5 ribbons' silver medalist at the 2021 European Championship and she's the champion in the senior team competition at the 2022 European Championships.

Margarita Vasilieva is a Bulgarian rhythmic gymnast. She is world champion with the Bulgarian team in All-around at the world championship 2022 in Sofia and world champion in final with 3 ribbons+2balls. She is the 2024 European all-around champion and team champion. She won gold in the senior team competition at the 2022 European Championships.

Zhenina Trashileva is a Bulgarian rhythmic gymnast. She is world champion in All-Around with the Bulgarian team and world champion in the final with 3 ribbons+2 balls in 2022 World Championships. She is European Champion with Team Bulgaria at the 2023 European Championships and Team Champion as well as Silver Medalist in the Five Hoops Final. Zhenina is also a team champion with the Bulgarian team at the European Championship in 2022 in Tel Aviv.

Elvira Krasnobaeva is a Bulgarian rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2024 European bronze medalist with ribbon and team champion, the 2022 junior European hoop champion and 2023 junior World ball champion. At national level she is the 2024 Senior all-around silver medalist. She is also the 2022 and 2023 Junior national champion, as well as the 2021 Junior all-around silver medalist.

Krassimira Filipova is a former Bulgarian rhythmic gymnast. She was a leading athlete in the second half of the 1960s and early 1970s.
