Club Africain, known as CA for short, is a Tunisian football club based in Tunis. The club was founded in 1920 and its colours are red and white. Their home stadium, Stade Hammadi Agrebi, has a capacity of 60,000 spectators. The club currently plays in the Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1.

The league started in 1956, just after Tunisia had gained its independence. 12 teams participate in the league, which is the strongest in Africa. The Espérance Sportive de Tunis H.C is the most successful team, and the first team in the world to win a total of 36 titles in its national league, 15 of them consecutively. Club Africain H.C have won 13 titles. Both clubs focus on international competitions rather than the domestic league, however, since they make up the bulk of the national team.
Espérance Sportive de Tunis Handball is a Tunisian handball team based in Tunis, that plays in Tunisian Professional Handball League. The club holds 35 domestic league title, setting a world record, as well as various continental and regional titles.

The matches, held on 12 May 2015 in Libreville, Gabon, were contested by Club Africain, the 2014 African Handball Champions League winner and Espérance Sportive de Tunis, the 2014 African Handball Cup Winners' Cup winner, on the man's side and Clube Desportivo Primeiro de Agosto, the 2014 African Women's Handball Champions League winner and Petro Atlético, the 2014 African Women's Handball Cup Winners' Cup winner, on the woman's side. Clube Africain and Primeiro de Agosto were the winners, the woman's match being the first ever final contested by teams from the same country.
