The United States national professional ballroom dance champions are crowned at the United States Dance Championships (formerly United States DanceSport Championships, USDSC, and United States Ballroom Championships, USBC), as recognized by the National Dance Council of America (NDCA) and the World Dance & DanceSport Council (WD&DSC).

He retired from competition dancing in 2005, however he has achieved many awards in his career. An internationally respected figure in the Ballroom world, Kosovich competed for 36 years. He competed in seven Professional World Championship events, won the United States American Smooth Championships and finished second in the 2004/5 World Classic Showdance Championships.

The National Dance Council of America (NDCA) is an organisation formed in 1948 which set standards for ballroom dance teachers, and competitions similar to the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) founded 1904 in London.
