The 1959 UAAP men's basketball tournament was the 22nd year of the men's tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s basketball championship. Hosted by University of Santo Tomas, the UST Glowing Goldies defeated the UE Warriors in a single game finals taking their tenth UAAP men's basketball championship.
The University of Santo Tomas displayed a well-knit man-to-man defense to smother the defending champion University of the East, 66–55, and regain the UAAP basketball crown before 9,000 fans at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
It was the first title for the Goldies after four years of so-so performances. Far Eastern University won it in 1956 and UE took over the next two years. FEU was eliminated by UST in the playoffs, 84–67. The victory was largely the work of two men who spent most of their playing time on the UST bench this season – rangy Asencion Aparicio and ex-Goldie skipper Angel Pavilano – and old reliable and slippery Rosendo Libunao. Established stars of the season – UST's Ramon Cotia and Reynaldo Arenas and UE's Roehl Nadurata, Mario Uson, Herman Dionisio and Tomas Paredes – failed to shake off the jitters. Nadurata, who was usually good for 20 points in tight and crucial matches, was held down to four measly points, all scored from the charity stripe, by the 6’3” Aparicio.
The lanky Tommie center didn't only excel in the guarding department. He also spearheaded UST’s offensive by scoring 20 points, two points better than Warriors pointman Rizaldo Pabillore's output. Aparicio was assisted ably by Libunao whose flawless heaves from quartercourt went for 16 points and Pavilano who checked top UE scoring aces Dionisio, Pabillore and Maximiano Concepcion from doing too much damage. This championship was the 10th the Goldies bagged since the loop commenced and, with it, they grabbed the second leg of the three-foot trophy, donated in 1955, that would go to the team that tops the loop thrice. The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), established in 1938, is an athletic association of eight Metro Manila universities in the Philippines. The eight member schools are Adamson University (AdU), Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU), De La Salle University (DLSU), Far Eastern University (FEU), National University (NU), University of the East (UE), University of the Philippines Diliman (UP), and University of Santo Tomas (UST). Varsity teams from these universities compete annually in the league's 28 events from 15 sports to vie for the overall championship title, namely, badminton, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, chess, fencing, football, judo, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.
The UAAP Basketball Championship holds its basketball tournaments from September to December. Basketball is a mandatory sport in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). All eight universities participate in the Men's, Women's, and Juniors (Boys') tournaments.
UE Red Warriors refer to the collegiate men's varsity teams of the University of the East. The women's collegiate varsity teams are called the UE Lady Warriors. The Athletic director of the University of the East is Rodrigo M. Roque.
The UST Growling Tigers are the college athletic teams representing the University of Santo Tomas in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. They hold the most UAAP Overall Championships with 44 Seniors' Overall Championships and 21 Juniors' Overall Championships.
UAAP Season 70 was the 2007-08 season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, which was hosted by the University of Santo Tomas. The theme of season 70 was "Winners All, Recreating the Value of Honesty through Sports" It opened on July 7, 2007 at the Araneta Coliseum. De La Salle University returned to active participation after being suspended in Season 69.

The UST Growling Tigers men's basketball is the intercollegiate men's basketball program of the University of Santo Tomas. The school has won 19 basketball titles including one in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). They are one of the winningest teams in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) with 18 championships, the last coming in 2006 during Pido Jarencio's rookie year of coaching. Their head coach as of October 8, 2020 is Jino Manansala who is serving the team on an interim capacity.
Jeric Allen Uy Teng is a Filipino basketball player for the Pasig Sta. Lucia Realtors of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). He was drafted 12th overall by Rain or Shine in the 2013 PBA draft. He played college ball for the UST Growling Tigers in the UAAP.
Battle of the East is a college basketball rivalry between the University of the East Red Warriors and Far Eastern University Tamaraws. Others would refer to it as the Battle of Morayta, because of the street that runs between these universities. They have a combined 38 UAAP Basketball titles.
UAAP Season 76 is the 2013–2014 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. It was hosted by Adamson University with Fr. Maximino D. Rendon, C.M. as president. There were eight universities that competed in fifteen sports with poomsae, a form in the sport of taekwondo now recognized as a regular sport and included in the general championship tally.

The men's basketball tournament for the school year 2014-15 began on July 12, 2014 and the host school for the season was University of the East.

Hosted by University of Santo Tomas, the UE Warriors defeated the UST Glowing Goldies two games to one in the best of three finals series taking their sixth overall UAAP men's basketball championship. The finals featured two future inductees to the PBA 25 Greatest Players and Hall of Fame: Danilo Florencio of UST and Robert Jaworski of UE.
The 1970 UAAP men's basketball tournament was the 33rd year of the men's tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s basketball championship. Hosted by University of Santo Tomas, the UE Warriors defeated the NU Bulldogs in the finals taking their eleventh overall and sixth straight UAAP men's basketball championship. The Warriors would eventually win the title the following year achieving a league record seven-peat. This was National University's first finals appearance in 15 years since they were beaten by UST for the title round in 1955. This was also NU's last finals appearance prior to their 2014 championship title.
The 1979 UAAP men's basketball tournament was the 42nd year of the men's tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s basketball championship. Hosted by University of the Philippines, the FEU Tamaraws defeated the UST Glowing Goldies in the finals taking their tenth overall UAAP men's basketball championship and the first of their three-peat title run from 1979 to 1981. The Tamaraws would eventually achieve the first sweep of the tournament (12–0) the following year and were automatically declared champions. The UAAP have seven teams then with the admission of Ateneo in 1978. This was the last finals match-up between FEU and UST until 2015 in Season 78. This was also the year when the UAAP first implemented the twice to beat finals format.
UAAP Season 43 men's basketball tournament is the 1980 season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, which was hosted by the University of the Philippines. The opening of the 1980-1981 edition of the UAAP takes place on July 20, 1980 at the Loyola Center.
The UAAP Season 50 basketball tournaments involved 23 teams from the eight member schools that played two rounds of elimination games in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) in the 1987–88 school year. Ateneo de Manila University was the host school for the second time since joining the league in 1978.
