The University Athletic Association of the Philippines beach volleyball tournament started in SY 2006-07 as a demonstration sport. The event is now held yearly. It is held at the SM Sands by the Bay in Pasay.

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), established in 1938, is an athletic association of eight Metro Manila universities in the Philippines. The eight-member schools are Adamson University (AdU), Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University (DLSU), Far Eastern University (FEU), National University (NU), University of the East (UE), University of the Philippines Diliman (UP), and the University of Santo Tomas (UST).
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) beach volleyball tournament is held in March, the beginning of the dry season in the Philippines.
The UST Growling Tigers, Tigresses, Tiger Cubs and Tigress Cubs are the collegiate men's and women's, and high school men's and women's, respectively, varsity teams of University of Santo Tomas (UST) in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. They hold the most UAAP Overall Championships with 47 Seniors' Overall Championships and 23 Juniors' Overall Championships.
The 2012 UST Growling Tigers men's basketball team represented University of Santo Tomas in the 75th season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. Alyssa Caymo Valdez is a Filipino volleyball player who currently plays for the Creamline Cool Smashers. She was a member of the collegiate varsity women's volleyball team of Ateneo de Manila University in both indoor and beach volleyball. She was most outstanding as an indoor volleyball player where she brought multiple championship titles and a lot of honor for the university. She is a current member of Philippines national team. Her global recognition paved the way for her to play in other countries like Thailand for 3BB Nakornnont and Taiwan for Attack Line Volleyball Club.
Michele Theresa Imperial Gumabao is a Filipino volleyball player and beauty pageant titleholder. She is currently signed to the Creamline Cool Smashers of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), and has previously played for teams in the Philippine Super Liga (PSL). She was named "Best opposite spiker" seven times in her professional career and was the Finals MVP in the 2016 Shakey's V-League Reinforced Conference.
Maria Carmela "Mela" Tunay is Filipina former volleyball player, actress, and TV host. She played for the UST Lady Tigresses in the UAAP and the Cignal HD Spikers in the PSL until 2016. She then transferred and played for the Petron Blaze Spikers from 2017 to 2019.
Mary Joy "Majoy" Dela Cruz Baron is a Filipino volleyball player. She attended college at De La Salle University and played for its volleyball team. She is currently playing for the PLDT High Speed Hitters playing as a middle blocker. Baron is also part of the Philippine National Women's Volleyball Team.
