The 1964 UAAP men's basketball tournament was the 27th year of the men's tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s basketball championship. Hosted by University of the East, the UST Glowing Goldies defeated the FEU Tamaraws in the best of three finals series two games to one taking their twelfth overall UAAP men's basketball championship.
Tournament format: Teams play a double round robin. The winner of the first round play the winner of the second round in a best of three championship to determine the champion. Ties for round winners are broken by knockout games.
If a team wins both rounds, it is automatically declared the champion, regardless if it was a sweep or not. If a team fails to win either rounds, but ends up with a better over-all record than either of the round winners, that team will challenge the second round winner for a championship slot against the first round winner.
UST won Game 1, 60-55, but FEU forced the decider with a 69-58 win. Ceferino dela Paz scored the marginal points as UST frustrated FEU in the winner-take-all match, 71-68. The series was dubbed as the most exhilarating UAAP conquest in the post war featuring two players who would be future champion coaches of their respective schools: Aric del Rosario of UST, and Danny Gavieres of FEU.
The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), established in 1938, is an athletic association of eight Metro Manila universities in the Philippines. The eight member schools are Adamson University (AdU), Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU), De La Salle University (DLSU), Far Eastern University (FEU), National University (NU), University of the East (UE), University of the Philippines Diliman (UP), and University of Santo Tomas (UST). Varsity teams from these universities compete annually in the league's 28 events from 15 sports to vie for the overall championship title, namely, badminton, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, chess, fencing, football, judo, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.
The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) holds its basketball tournaments from September to December. Basketball is a mandatory sport in the UAAP. All eight universities participate in the Men's, Women's, and Juniors (Boys') tournaments.

The FEU Tamaraws are the varsity teams of Far Eastern University in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). The collegiate women's varsity teams are called the Lady Tamaraws while the high school varsity teams are called the Baby Tamaraws.
College basketball in the Philippines is fragmented; as of today there is no single governing body, with several leagues in Metro Manila and in the provinces. The University Athletic Association of the Philippines and National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) champions are considered to be the major champions, although several other leagues, claim their champions in equal standing with those of the UAAP and the NCAA.

The theme of season 70 was "Winners All, Recreating the Value of Honesty through Sports" It opened on July 7, 2007 at the Araneta Coliseum. De La Salle University returned to active participation after being suspended in Season 69.

The University of the Philippines (UP) hosted this season, which coincided with the centennial anniversary of the University's establishment. It opened on July 5, 2008 with an elaborate ceremony held at the Araneta Coliseum.
The UAAP Final Four refers to the postseasons of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) tournaments. The term "final four" came from the National Collegiate Athletic Association of the United States' men's Division I basketball tournament which is colloquially called as the "final four".
The Ateneo–La Salle rivalry is a historied rivalry between two of the top elite universities in the Philippines, the Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University. Both are private, Catholic academic institutions within the Metropolitan Manila area. The Ateneo men's varsity team is known as the Ateneo Blue Eagles, women's varsity team as the Ateneo Lady Eagles, and high school team as the Ateneo Blue Eaglets. The De La Salle men's varsity team is known as the De La Salle Green Archers, women's varsity team as the DLSU Lady Archers/Spikers, and high school team as the DLSZ Junior Archers.
UAAP Season 73 is the 2010–2011 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. It was hosted by De La Salle University. The men's basketball and the women's volleyball tournaments were aired by ABS-CBN Channel 2 and Studio 23 for the eleventh consecutive year following the renewal of the contract for the broadcast of the games. The opening ceremonies were held on July 10, 2010 with the opening game pitting the season host and the UP Fighting Maroons.
The UST Growling Tigers men's basketball is the intercollegiate men's basketball program of the University of Santo Tomas. The Growling Tigers have won 19 men's basketball titles including one National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championship. It is one of the winningest teams in University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) men's basketball with 18 titles, just behind the FEU Tamaraws and tied with the UE Red Warriors. The Growling Tigers also participate in Millennium Basketball League Invitational. As of January 11, 2018, the team's head coach is Aldin Ayo.
The FEU Tamaraws men's basketball is a collegiate basketball varsity team of the Far Eastern University based in Sampaloc, Manila. FEU currently holds the record of winning the most number of championships in the men's basketball division of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. FEU also appeared in the Philippine Collegiate Championship finals four times, and was able to win back to back championships in 2004 and 2005. The team originally played in the NCAA from 1929 to 1936 and was one of its founding members. This will be Nash Racela's final season as the coach of the Tamaraws as he will be handling PBA team TNT KaTropa. Nash's brother Olsen Racela will be the new head coach of the team for season 80.
The 2013 UST Growling Tigers men's basketball team represented University of Santo Tomas in the 76th season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. The men's basketball tournament for the school year 2013-2014 began on June 29, 2013 and the host school for the season was Adamson University.
UAAP Season 79 is the 2016–2017 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). This season, hosted by the University of Santo Tomas officially opened on September 3, 2016. The opening ceremony was held at the UST Plaza Mayor at 3:00 pm with the formal introduction of ballroom dancing as a demonstration sport in this season by the host school University of Santo Tomas (UST) at España, Manila. The official ceremony started at 5:00 pm as there was a concert party themed "Dare to Dream" where the official theme song for the season was revealed. However, unlike in the previous years when the first double-header basketball games were held following the opening ceremonies, this year it was held the following day, September 4 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The men's basketball tournament for the school year 2015-16 began on September 5, 2015 and the host school for the season was the University of the Philippines.
The 1979 UAAP men's basketball tournament was the 42nd year of the men's tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s basketball championship. Hosted by University of the Philippines, the FEU Tamaraws defeated the UST Glowing Goldies in the finals taking their tenth overall UAAP men's basketball championship and the first of their three-peat title run from 1979 to 1981. The Tamaraws would eventually achieve the first sweep of the tournament (12–0) the following year and were automatically declared champions. The UAAP have seven teams then with the admission of Ateneo in 1978. This was the last finals match-up between FEU and UST until 2015 in Season 78. This was also the year when the UAAP first implemented the twice to beat finals format.
UAAP Season 80 is the 2017–18 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). This season will be hosted by the Far Eastern University.
UAAP Season 82 was the 2019–20 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). The season was hosted by the Ateneo de Manila University.
