The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), established in 1938, is an athletic association of eight Metro Manila universities in the Philippines. The eight member schools are Adamson University (AdU), Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU), De La Salle University (DLSU), Far Eastern University (FEU), National University (NU), University of the East (UE), University of the Philippines Diliman (UP), and University of Santo Tomas (UST). Varsity teams from these universities compete annually in the league's 28 events from 15 sports to vie for the overall championship title, namely, badminton, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, chess, fencing, football, judo, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.
The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) holds its basketball tournaments from September to December. Basketball is a mandatory sport in the UAAP. All eight universities participate in the Men's, Women's, and Juniors (Boys') tournaments.
The FEU Tamaraws are the varsity teams of Far Eastern University in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). The collegiate women's varsity teams are called the Lady Tamaraws while the high school varsity teams are called the Baby Tamaraws.
The National University Bulldogs are the collegiate men's varsity teams of National University in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. The collegiate women's varsity teams are called the Lady Bulldogs while the high school varsity teams are called the Bullpups. The National University Athletic Director is Rustico “Otie” Camangian.
UE Red Warriors refer to the collegiate men's varsity teams of the University of the East. The women's collegiate varsity teams are called the UE Lady Warriors. The Athletic director of the University of the East is Rodrigo M. Roque.
The UST Growling Tigers are the college athletic teams representing the University of Santo Tomas in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. They hold the most number of UAAP Overall Championships with 44 Seniors' Overall Championships and 21 Juniors' Overall Championships.
The UAAP Season 70 men's basketball tournament is the flagship tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) basketball championships.
Frederick "Eric" Altamirano is a former Filipino basketball player and he currently the assistant coach of the Alaska Aces. In the present he is the commissioner of Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 He was part of the Philippine national team that played at the 1986 Asian Games. He is the head coach of the National University Bulldogs from 2011 to 2016.
The UAAP Season 72 men's basketball tournament is the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s men's basketball tournament for the 2009–10 season.
The UST Growling Tigers men's basketball is the intercollegiate men's basketball program of the University of Santo Tomas. The Growling Tigers have won 19 men's basketball titles including one National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championship. It is one of the winningest teams in University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) men's basketball with 18 titles, just behind the FEU Tamaraws and tied with the UE Red Warriors. The Growling Tigers also participate in Millennium Basketball League Invitational. As of January 11, 2018, the team's head coach is Aldin Ayo.
Kiefer Isaac Crisologo Ravena is a Filipino basketball player for the NLEX Road Warriors of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Ravena played for the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the UAAP during his college days. He is playing both guard positions.
Jeric Allen Uy Teng is a Filipino basketball player for the Pasig Sta. Lucia Realtors of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). He was drafted 12th overall by Rain or Shine in the 2013 PBA draft. He played college ball for the UST Growling Tigers in the UAAP.
Karim Abdul is a collegiate basketball player from Cameroon. He last played for the UST Growling Tigers in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). He is also a football player for Dolphins United F.C. where he plays as goalkeeper.
The FEU Tamaraws men's basketball is a collegiate basketball varsity team of the Far Eastern University based in Sampaloc, Manila. FEU currently holds the record of winning the most number of championships in the men's basketball division of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. FEU also appeared in the Philippine Collegiate Championship finals four times, and was able to win back to back championships in 2004 and 2005. The team originally played in the NCAA from 1929 to 1936 and was one of its founding members. This will be Nash Racela's final season as the coach of the Tamaraws as he will be handling PBA team TNT KaTropa. Nash's brother Olsen Racela will be the new head coach of the team for season 80.
The 1958 UAAP men's basketball tournament was the 21st year of the men's tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s basketball championship. Hosted by University of the East, the UE Warriors defeated the MCU Tigers in a single game finals taking their second straight UAAP men's basketball championship since joining the league in 1952. This was the only finals appearance of Manila Central University before pulling out of the league in 1962. MCU was the only former UAAP member school that reached the basketball tournament finals.
The 1965 UAAP men's basketball tournament was the 28th year of the men's tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s basketball championship. Hosted by University of Santo Tomas, the UE Warriors defeated the UST Glowing Goldies two games to one in the best of three finals series taking their sixth overall UAAP men's basketball championship. The finals featured two future inductees to the PBA 25 Greatest Players and Hall of Fame: Danilo Florencio of UST and Robert Jaworski of UE.
The 1962 UAAP men's basketball tournament was the 25th year of the men's tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s basketball championship. Hosted by National University, the UE Warriors defeated the UP Parrots in a single game finals taking their fourth UAAP men's basketball championship.
The 1961 UAAP men's basketball tournament was the 24th year of the men's tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s basketball championship. Hosted by Far Eastern University, the FEU Tamaraws defeated the UE Warriors in a single game finals taking their sixth overall UAAP men's basketball championship.
The UAAP Season 80 basketball tournaments were the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) basketball tournaments for the 2017–18 school year. The tournaments are divided into men's, women's and juniors' divisions, for male and female college players and male high school players, respectively. The host school for the seniors' division was Far Eastern University, while Ateneo de Manila University was the sub-host for the juniors' division. The De La Salle Green Archers, NU Lady Bulldogs, and FEU Baby Tamaraws are the defending champions for the men's, women's and juniors respectively.
