Located well east of the city, 45 km (28 mi), it is Namibia's largest airport with international connections. From its founding in 1965 to the independence of Namibia in 1990, it was named J.G. Strijdom Airport. The name of the airport after its renaming in 1990 is in honor of Namibian national hero Hosea Kutako.

Job Shipululo Amupanda is a Namibian activist and politician who is the current Mayor of the City of Windhoek, in office since 2 December 2020. Previously, he was an academic at the University of Namibia before he co-founded the Affirmative Repositioning movement, a movement setup by radical youth activists of the SWAPO Party Youth League in November 2014.
Affirmative Repositioning commonly known as (AR) is a radical movement in Namibia aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of urban youths. Founded in 2014 by Job Amupanda, Dimbulukeni Nauyoma and George Kambala, the AR uses social media platforms to mobilise residents to apply for erven from municipalities. Due to thousands of youth submitting their forms on the same day, these activities have the character of mass demonstrations. The movement had in a first round in November 2014 achieved a wave of individual land applications in Windhoek, Namibia's capital, which had since spread to other Namibian towns. The Affirmative Repositioning movement had threatened to take the land by force had the applications not have been processed and approved by July 2015 in the local municipalities.
Westair Aviation Limited is a registered airline of Namibia and offers scheduled passenger and cargo services. Westair Aviation is a fully integrated aviation service provider based at Windhoek-Eros. Fifty years ago, in 1967, Westair Aviation originally started out as an aircraft maintenance facility and has since grown to become a passenger and freight aviation company. The airline has become a leading provider of ad-hoc as well as air chartered services in Namibia, providing long-term lease and aircraft maintenance services from its Eros-hub. In June 2019, the airline was granted designated carrier status by the Namibian Transport Commission. Scheduled local flights commences on June 24, 2019 from its Eros-hub under the newly established brand name, FlyWestair. In September 2019 the airline revealed plans to commence its first international destination by starting flights from Eros to Cape Town. FlyWestair launched its frequent flyer-programme on 1 February 2020.
Joseph Kalimbwe is a Zambian born youth activist, author and a former Namibian student leader who served as president of the student representative council of the University of Namibia in 2017. In 2014, he was appointed president of the African Union youth simulation forum, a youth organized advocate program of the African Union. He has written for the Namibian Sun, and has published three books including Persecuted in Search of Change in 2017, The Pain of An Empty Stomach in 2015 and Teenage-Hood & the Impact of the Western World in 2014.
University of Namibia Student Representative Council was founded on 20 February 1992, and is recognised as the legal representative body for the students of the University of Namibia by the University of Namibia Act 18 of 1992. It is responsible for representing the interests of the students to the management of the University and to local and national government. It consists of representatives from all twelve campuses across Namibia.

From 2015 to 2018, he served as Secretary General of the Namibia National Students Organisation.
George Hidipo Hamba Kambala is a Namibian youth activist who along with Job Amupanda and Dimbulukeni Nauyoma co-founded a radical youth movement known as the Affirmative Repositioning in 2014 to advocate for land among Namibian youths. He also served in the SWAPO Youth League before his subsequent expulsion for his involvement in the youth movement.
Robert Naanda Kahimise is a Namibian business person and CEO of the Windhoek Municipality, an executive position for the leader of the city's metropolitan council, the City of Windhoek. He was appointed to the position in 2016. Previously, he served as Executive Officer of the Erongo Regional Electricity Distributor where he has served since July 2013.

The Fishrot Six is a group of notorious Namibian officials who masterminded a major corrupt political scandal in 2019. Based on allegations that the six officials, namely former Fisheries Minister Bernhardt Esau, Justice Minister Sacky Shanghala, James Hatuikulipi, Tamson Hatuikulipi, Ricardo Gustavo and Pius Mwatelulo had corruptly acquired $15 million in bribes from the Icelandic fishing company Samherji, their involvement in Namibia's biggest corruption scandal become dubbed as the Fishrot Six, an investigation by The Namibian, Aljazeera and the Iceland State Television revealed.
Inna Koviao Hengari is a Namibian politician, student leader and youth activist. A member of the Popular Democratic Movement, she became a member of the National Assembly on 20 March 2020, the youngest since McHenry Venaani in 2004. Previously she served as Vice President of the UNAM SRC and the Students Union of Namibia.
