UNS Energy is the parent company of Tucson Electric Power and UniSource Energy Services.

Tucson Electric Power (TEP) is an electric utility company serving southern Arizona in the United States. It is a subsidiary of Fortis, which announced its acquisition of parent company UNS Energy in 2013.

History

UniSource Energy was started in 1998 as the parent company for Tucson Electric Power. In 2003, the company acquired Citizens Communications's Arizona gas and electric operations in 2003 and renamed them UniSource Energy Services. [1]

On August 24, 2004, the company restated its net income, and the new figure is $113.9 million in 2003, $34.9 million in 2002 and $63.8 million in 2001. [2]

In 2013, Fortis announced its acquisition of UNS and completed this in August 2014. [4]

Fortis Inc. is a St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador based international diversified electric utility holding company. It operates in Canada, the United States, Central America, and the Caribbean. In 2015, it earned $6.7 billion CAD.

KTTU, virtual channel 18, is a MyNetworkTV-affiliated television station licensed to Tucson, Arizona, United States. Owned by Tucker Broadcasting, the station is operated under a shared services agreement (SSA) by Gray Television, while its advertising sales are handled via a joint sales agreement (JSA) by Tegna Inc.. The three stations share studios on North Business Park Drive on the northwest side of Tucson ; KTTU's transmitter is located atop Mount Bigelow.

Owned by Tegna Inc., the station is operated under a shared services agreement (SSA) by Gray Television ; Gray also operates MyNetworkTV affiliate KTTU under a separate SSA with Tucker Broadcasting. The three stations share studios on North Business Park Drive on the northwest side of Tucson. KMSB's transmitter is located atop Mount Bigelow; as a result of the transmitter's location, residents in the northern part of Tucson, Oro Valley and Marana cannot receive adequate reception of the station.

Solana Generating Station

The Solana Generating Station is a solar power plant near Gila Bend, Arizona, about 70 miles (110 km) southwest of Phoenix, completed in 2013. When commissioned it was the largest parabolic trough plant in the world and the first U.S. solar plant with molten salt thermal energy storage. Built by the Spanish company Abengoa Solar, it has a total capacity of 280 megawatts (MW) gross, from two 140 MW gross (125 MW net) steam turbine generators, which is enough to power 70,000 homes while avoiding around 475,000 tons of CO2 every year. Its name is the Spanish term for "sunny spot".

The Bank of America Plaza is a high-rise office building which was built in 1977 and is located in Downtown Tucson, Arizona. It took over the top spot from the Pima County Legal Services Building, which was the tallest building from 1967-1977. It was the tallest building in Tucson from the time of its completion in 1977 until 1986, when the UniSource Energy Tower was completed. It is located at 33 North Stone Avenue, at the southwest corner of Stone Avenue and Pennington Street The Bank of America Plaza is one of three major skyscrapers in the downtown Tucson area that compose the highest part of the city's skyline, the other two being the UniSource Energy Tower and Pima County Legal Services Building.

UniSource Energy Services is an electric and natural gas utility company serving Arizona in the United States. It is a subsidiary of Fortis.

Arizona House Bill 2005 is state-level legislation introduced in the Arizona State Legislature and signed into law in 2018.
