The award, UR Fave: New Artist, was an award presented at the MuchMusic Video Awards. In the 2011 MuchMusic Video Awards the award was changed to "UR Fave: Artist". The award can only be presented to an artist or group that originates from Canada. The results are decided by an online poll. The award was first handed out at the 2009 MuchMusic Video Awards.

Those award categories are now defunct due to the "People's Choice: Favourite International Video" which includes international groups as well as international solo artists. The first award was given in 2008 to Fall Out Boy's "The Take Over, The Break's Over" music video.

<i>Kiddo</i> (EP) 2017 EP by Jessie Reyez

Kiddo is the debut extended play by Canadian singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez. It was released on April 21, 2017, by FMLY and Republic Records. The EP was supported by two singles, "Figures" and "Shutter Island". The third single, "Gatekeeper", was released alongside a short film. The EP peaked at No. 83 on the Canadian Hot 100 and was nominated for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year at the 2018 Juno Awards.

The 2018 iHeartRadio MMVAs were held on August 26, 2018 outside 299 Queen Street West in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Unlike previous years, the 2018 show aired live at the end of August instead of Father's Day. It was hosted by Awkwafina.
