Uche Nnaji is a Nigerian politician who served as the Federal Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology from August 16, 2023, to October 6, 2025. He resigned from office following allegations of certificate forgery. [1] [2] [3]

Career

On August 16, 2023, Uche Nnaji was appointed as the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. [4] [5]

Investigation

On June 6, 2024, Peoples Gazette published an investigative report detailing how Uche Nnaji forged the documents he submitted to the Nigerian Senate for ministerial confirmation. The report stated that the minister forged the certificate of national youth service and his university degree qualification, escaping the background checks of the State Security Service (Nigeria). Resignation

A year after the Peoples Gazette report on his certificate forgery, Uche Nnaji tendered his resignation letter after members of the opposition party sued him over the scandal at the Federal High Court. In a press statement from the Nigerian presidency on October 7, 2025, a spokesman for the Nigerian president announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted his resignation. [7]
