The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) is the governing body of the Olympic shooting events. It also regulates several non-Olympic shooting sport events. The Federation's activities include regulation of the sport, managing Olympic qualification events and quota places, as well as organization of international competitions such as the ISSF World Cup series and ISSF World Championships.
Erling Asbjørn Kongshaug was a Norwegian rifle shooter. He competed in the 1952, 1956 and 1960 Olympics in 50 meter rifle three positions and 50 meter rifle prone and won a gold medal in the three positions event in 1952. He also won 13 medals at the ISSF World Shooting Championships from 1947 to 1954.
Paralympic shooting, also known as shooting Para sport, is an adaptation of shooting sports for competitors with disabilities. Shooting is a test of accuracy and control, in which competitors use pistols or rifles to fire a series of shots at a stationary target. Each shot is worth a maximum score of 10.9 points. Athletes use .22 caliber rifles, pistols and .177 caliber air guns. Paralympic shooting first appeared in the Summer Paralympics at the 1976 Toronto Games.
Stevan Pletikosić is a sport shooter from Serbia. While still a junior, he won a bronze medal in Men's 50 m Rifle Prone in the 1992 Summer Olympics. The year before, at the 1991 ISSF World Cup in the same event, he had become the only junior ever to achieve the maximum score of 600 in a world-class competition.
Snježana Pejčić is a Croatian athlete who competes in shooting. Her first notable success was winning silver at the Juniors European Shooting Championship in Thessaloniki in 2002, and she won second place at an ISSF World Cup held in Munich in 2008. She took up sports shooting at the age of 15 and she is a member of Lokomotiva sport shooting club in Rijeka. Her greatest success came at the 2008 Summer Olympics where she earned a bronze medal.
Guy Starik is an Israeli sport shooter who has competed in four Olympics. He has won gold medals in shooting at both the European Championships and at four World Cups, and shares the world record in the 50 meter rifle prone competition.

Tanyaporn Prucksakorn is a Thai sport shooter who has competed at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. At all three Olympics, she competed in the 10 m air pistol and 25 m pistol events. She has been a competitive shooter since 2003, winning two World Cup silver medals, both at the Munich event.

Myanmar competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. The men's ISSF 50 meter pistol was a shooting sports event held as part of the Shooting at the 1964 Summer Olympics programme. It was the eleventh appearance of the event. The competition was held on 18 October 1964 at the shooting ranges in Tokyo. 52 shooters from 34 nations competed. Nations had been limited to two shooters each since the 1952 Games. The event was won by Väinö Markkanen of Finland, the nation's second victory in the event. American Franklin Green took silver, returning the United States to the podium in the event after a one-Games absence. Yoshihisa Yoshikawa of Japan repeated as bronze medalist, the fourth man to earn multiple medals in the free pistol.
Pavlo Serhiyovych Korostylov is a Ukrainian sport shooter. He is the 2016 European 10 m pistol bronze medalist.
Kyaw Shein is a Burmese former sports shooter. He competed in the 50 metre rifle, prone event at the 1964 Summer Olympics. He also competed at the 1962, 1966 and 1970 Asian Games.

She has won a total of three gold medals in a major international competition, spanning the ISSF World Cup series, and the inaugural European Games held in Baku, Azerbaijan. A member of the GB team, Hill trains with her personal coach Joe Neville at E.J. Churchill Shooting Ground in Wycombe. In February 2023, Hill married motocross racer James Rutter. Since her withdrawal from the 2020 Olympics, she has been active in promoting mental health in sport.
