Ukraine (sports society) is a physical culture and sports association of Ukraine.
At the end of the eighties (1987) the former sports associations of trade unions "Avanhard", "Burevestnik", "Vodnik", "Zenit", "Kolos", "Lokomotiv", and "Spartak" were united into the All-Union volunteer physical culture and sports association of trade unions (VDFSTP). After several years "Kolos" has separated from it and in 1991 VDFSTP was reorganized into the sports association of trade unions "Ukraine".
The Ukrainian Association of Football is the governing body of football in Ukraine. Before 2019, it was known as the Football Federation of Ukraine. As a subject of the International Olympic Movement, UAF is a member of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine. UAF is also member of international football organizations such as UEFA and FIFA.
Sports in Ukraine as in any other country throughout the World plays an important role in shaping the popular view of Ukraine and Ukrainian popular culture to its residents and the rest of the World. Sports in Ukraine while it is voluntary and spontaneous, it is regulated and standardized by the government and respected government agency as well as legislation. According to the Law of Ukraine "About physical culture and sports", sports is an activity of subjects of the sphere of physical culture and sport directed to identification and the unified comparison of achievements of people in physical, intellectual, and other preparation by holding sports competitions and preparation for them. The sport has such directions: children's sports, sports for children and young people, reserve sports, elite sports, professional sports, sports of veterans of physical culture and sport, veterans of war, the Olympic sport, not Olympic sport, office and applied and military and applied sport, sports of persons with disability and so forth.
Voluntary Sports Societies (VSS) of the USSR were the main structural parts of the universal sports and physical education (fitness) system, that existed in the USSR between 1935 and 1991, together with already well established Dinamo, society in cooperation with Army, Aviation, and Fleet (DOSAAF), and CSKA sports societies, all of which were classified as Departamental Sports Societies (DSS) of the USSR (DSS-USSR).
Football is the most popular sport in Ukraine. The Ukrainian Association of Football is the national governing body and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the game of football in the country. It was organised in 1991 to replace the Soviet republican-level Football Federation of Ukrainian SSR, created earlier in the 1920s as part of the Soviet system of physical culture councils. The Ukrainian Association of Football is a non-governmental organization and is a member of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.
The 1992–93 Football championship of Ukraine among amateurs was the first season of the nationwide amateur competitions in the independent Ukraine and was known as the football competitions of fitness collectives or KFK for short. The tournament was conducted under auspices of the Football Federation of Ukraine before creation of the Ukrainian Football Amateur Association.
Physical culture and sports association "Dynamo" - Ukraine or Dynamo - Ukraine is a sports club that was established in the Soviet Union as part of the Soviet sports society "Dynamo". It was created on October 31, 1924 in Kharkiv. Since that time the sports club stays as one of the best clubs in Ukraine after the fall of the Soviet Union.
The Ukrainian Amateur Cup or AAFU Cup is a national cup competition in Ukraine for amateur clubs. The nationwide competition among amateur teams in cup format was revived in the 1996–97 season and since 2008 the winner receives the right to progress to the Ukrainian Cup which serves professional clubs.
Kolos is a fitness-sport society of the Agro-Industrial Complex of Ukraine, formerly a rural sports society and a trade unions - cooperative sports society that was uniting farmers, workers, servicemen, technicians of agricultural organizations, enterprises, establishments, and educational institutions. Created in 1950 under the name of "Kolhospnyk", it changed its name to Kolos in 1970.
Spartak - Ukraine is a physical culture and sports association of Ukraine. It was revived in Zhytomyr in January 1992. Established in 1936 as the All-Union volunteer sports society, Spartak - Ukraine traces its history back to 1923 when it was known as the Komsomol sports society Spartak.
Avanhard is a ski resort and a main sports base for Olympic preparation in the town of Vorokhta, Ukraine. It is the biggest out of five still operational ski jumping facilities in the country and one of three located in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. Vorokhta is frequently associated with the resort and the resort is often referred to simply as Vorokhta or as the "Ramps of Vorokhta".
