The history of cinema in Poland is almost as long as the history of cinematography, and it has universally recognized achievements, even though Polish films tend to be less commercially available than films from several other European nations.
Janusz Zygmunt Kamiński is a Polish cinematographer and director of film and television. He has established a partnership with Steven Spielberg, working as a cinematographer on his films since 1993. He won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for his work on Spielberg's holocaust drama Schindler's List and World War II epic Saving Private Ryan (1998). He has also received Academy Award nominations for Amistad (1997), The Diving Bell & the Butterfly (2007), War Horse (2011), Lincoln (2012), and West Side Story (2021). He has also received nominations for five BAFTA Awards, and six American Society of Cinematographers Awards.
Haskell Wexler, ASC was an American cinematographer, film producer, and director. Wexler was judged to be one of film history's ten most influential cinematographers in a survey of the members of the International Cinematographers Guild. He won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography twice, in 1966 and 1976, out of five nominations. In his obituary in The New York Times, Wexler is described as being "renowned as one of the most inventive cinematographers in Hollywood."
Paweł Aleksander Pawlikowski is a Polish filmmaker. He garnered early praise for a string of documentaries in the 1990s and for his award-winning feature films of the 2000s, Last Resort (2000) and My Summer of Love (2004). His success continued into the 2010s with Ida (2013), which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, and Cold War (2018), for which Pawlikowski won the Best Director prize at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director, while the film received a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.

Evgeny Mikhailovich Afineevsky is an Israeli-American film director, producer and cinematographer. He has an Academy Award nomination and Emmy nominations for his documentary Winter on Fire. Afineevsky resides in the United States.
In the Rearview is a 2023 documentary feature film directed by Maciek Hamela. It is about a van, that traverses the roads of Ukraine with the driver-director and evacuated people, following the Russian invasion. The vehicle becomes a fragile and temporary refuge of exiles whose only objective is to escape the war. It is a co-production between Poland, France and Ukraine.
Andrew "Andy" Cohen is a three-time Emmy nominated independent filmmaker and journalist whose recent film,To Kill a Tiger, is nominated for a 2024 Academy Award for Best Feature Documentary.
Karim Amer is an Egyptian-American film producer and director. He worked on The Square (2013) and The Great Hack (2019); the former was the first Egyptian film to earn an Academy Award nomination and went on to win three Emmy Awards, while the latter got nominated for an Emmy and a BAFTA Award. In 2020, he produced and directed The Vow, an HBO documentary series about the self-improvement group, NXIVM. Mondo Hollywoodland is a 2019 American comedy/sci fi film directed by Janek Ambros and starring Chris Blim, Alex Loynaz and Alyssa Sabo. Oscar nominated actor/activist James Cromwell is an executive producer and presenter on the film.
Jonas Poher Rasmussen is a Danish filmmaker. In 2021, he wrote and directed the animated documentary Flee, that received three nominations for the Best Documentary Feature, Best International Film and Best Animated Feature at the 94th Academy Awards. From 2007 to 2010 Jonas attended the Danish independent film school Super16.
The Crossing is a 2020 documentary film directed by Colombian filmmaker Juliana Peñaranda-Loftus. The documentary focuses on the Venezuelan refugee crisis, particularly at the Colombia-Venezuela border and in Cúcuta.
Wojciech Antoni Bakun is a Polish politician, member of the Sejm of the 8th term and Przemyśl's Mayor since 2018.
Noura Kevorkian is a documentary filmmaker. She has won numerous awards including a 2023 Peabody Award for her 2022 film Batata, which is submitted for consideration to the 2024 Oscars in the Documentary Feature Category.
