Ulterior are an English post-punk band formed in 2006 and are based in London, signed to independent record label Disc Error Recordings. They consist of band members Simmons, Honey, Mickey and MCG.
Former professional footballer Paul McGregor (Honey), his brother Benn (MCG), and guitarist Paul Simmons (Simmons) began as a three piece band in late 2006. Shortly after, in 2007, Karl Januskevicius, (Motorcycle Boy), joined Ulterior full time on synthesizer.
After some performances in London and their debut single "Weapons", Ulterior were asked to support The Horrors at the Shockwaves NME Awards 2008 at The London Astoria. [1]
In 2008 the band was mentioned by The Quietus as "consistently playing some of the most intense gigs in the past couple of years". [2]
2008 saw Januskevicius move onto bass guitar. In February 2009 Januskevicius quit the band citing health and personal problems on the eve of their European tour with The Sisters Of Mercy. Januskevicius was replaced by Michael Ellis (Mickey). The tour with The Sisters Of Mercy in February / March 2009 [3] was followed by a UK tour with White Rose Movement in May. [4]
Ulterior then released their third single, a 10" double AA side vinyl entitled "Sister Speed / Aporia" supported by a promotional video that features live footage from the show with The Sisters Of Mercy at Razzmattaz, Barcelona. A German limited edition of the vinyl single features an enhanced bonus CD with multiple remixes and the video.
Ulterior have featured in printed press such as NME , The Stool Pigeon , Vice Magazine and Artrocker . [5] [ citation needed ]
Ulterior recorded all Disc Error Recordings releases and debut studio album 'Wild In Wildlife' at Studio 150 in Amsterdam with Zlaya Hadzic, [6] a Bosnian born music producer.[ citation needed ] Zlaya previously recorded and mixed Sonic Youth and Tortoise. The album cover features work by Guy Denning, who let the band use his piece ‘Where's Your Famous Golden Touch?’ [7] The 2011 release was preceded by single "Sex War Sex Cars Sex" which features a remix by The March Violets [8] where Ulterior's trademark drum machines are replaced by acoustic drums.
For second album 'The Bleach Room' (2013) Ulterior worked with producer Robert Harder [9] at Harder Sounds Studio in Acton, London. Robert's previous studio credits include production for Whitey, Sohodolls, The Slits, Neneh Cherry and work with Kylie Minogue, Babyshambles, David Byrne & Brian Eno, No Bra and The Sunshine Underground.
Ulterior's third album 'Aversion' was a digital only release for Christmas 2013, featuring 5 covers (songs by Rowland S Howard, Bruce Springsteen, Lou Reed, Manic Street Preachers & Madonna) plus 8 remixed versions of songs from The Bleach Room. 'Aversion' was later released on compact disc in Japan.
On 28 October 2009 Ulteriors debut single "Weapons" was featured on the PlayStation 3 game MotorStorm: Pacific Rift alongside David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, Primal Scream, Nirvana, Megadeth, Slipknot, and Queens Of The Stone Age.[ citation needed ] "Weapons" was also used online for an McLaren Mercedes podcast in 2007. Ulterior have supported The Sisters Of Mercy, UK Decay, [11] The Horrors, Echo & The Bunnymen, [12] These New Puritans, A.R.E. Weapons, [13] Black Strobe, White Rose Movement, Tuxedo Moon, The March Violets [14] , O Children and Sonic Boom. In addition to headline tours in UK and Europe and major festival appearances (Wave Gotik Treffen, Leipzig 2011 main stage with Fields Of The Nephlim & Killing Joke, [15] Summer Darkness, Utrecht 2011 with Killing Joke & Nitzer Ebb, [16] Shadowplay, Kortrijk 2011 with Clan Of Xymox, Peter Hook & The Light, [17] Grauzone, Amsterdam 2013 [18] ), Ulterior's headline touring includes Japan (April 2014, with Plasticzooms [19] ) and South Africa.[ citation needed ]
The compact disc (CD) is a digital optical disc data storage format that was co-developed by Philips and Sony to store and play digital audio recordings. It uses the Compact Disc Digital Audio format which typically provides 74 minutes of audio on a disc. In later years, the compact disc was adapted for non-audio computer data storage purposes as CD-ROM and its derivatives. First released in Japan in October 1982, the CD was the second optical disc technology to be invented, after the much larger LaserDisc (LD). By 2007, 200 billion CDs had been sold worldwide.

The Cult are an English rock band formed in Bradford in 1983. Bleach is the debut studio album by American rock band Nirvana, released on June 15, 1989, by Sub Pop. After the release of their debut single "Love Buzz" on Sub Pop in November 1988, Nirvana rehearsed for two to three weeks in preparation for recording a full-length album. The main recording sessions for Bleach took place at Reciprocal Recording in Seattle, Washington between December 1988 and January 1989. It is the only Nirvana album released on the Sub Pop label and their only studio album to feature drummer Chad Channing.

Seven March Violets singles reached the UK Indie Chart; the Natural History collection also was an indie hit.
The Cribs are a British indie rock band originally from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, that formed in 2001. The band consists of twins Gary and Ryan Jarman and their younger brother Ross Jarman. They were subsequently joined by ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, who was an official member of the group from 2008 until 2011.

Damien Zev Moyal is an American vocalist, lyricist, musician, songwriter, and designer. Born in Amstelveen, North Holland, Netherlands, he moved to the United States as a child and grew up in Miami, Florida, where he notably fronted such hardcore punk, metallic hardcore, and melodic hardcore bands as Shai Hulud, As Friends Rust, Morning Again, Culture, Bird of Ill Omen, and Bridgeburne R. Moyal has been based in Ann Arbor, Michigan since 2006, and is the founding member of the semi-eponymously named gothic rock/post-punk band Damien Done.
Frank Black 93–03 is a compilation album by Frank Black, released in June 2007 by Cooking Vinyl. It highlights the 10 years of his solo career after disbanding the influential alternative rock band, the Pixies in 1993, as well as songs from the many albums he created with backing band "the Catholics". Included also is material from his next solo album, Bluefinger, in the form of a hidden track, "Threshold Apprehension". Each release comes with a second disc of live recordings, which varies depending on the region the album was released in. All live tracks were recorded during Black's fall 2006 North American tour.
Paul Anthony McGregor is an English musician and former professional footballer, who is lead singer of the London-based punk band Ulterior where he is known under the stage name Honey.
Journal for Plague Lovers is the ninth studio album by Welsh alternative rock band Manic Street Preachers, released on 18 May 2009 by Columbia Records. Recorded between October 2008 and February 2009 and produced by Steve Albini and Dave Eringa, it features exclusively posthumously published lyrics by Richey Edwards, who disappeared on 1 February 1995 and was presumed deceased in 2008. It is the only Manic Street Preachers album in which the lyrics for every song were written solely by Edwards.
