Kebbi is a state in northwestern Nigeria. Kebbi State is bordered east and north of Sokoto and Zamfara states,and to the south by Niger state while its western border forms part of the national borders with Benin Republic for 103 km and Niger for 207 km. Named for the city of Birnin Kebbi—the state's capital and largest city,Kebbi state was formed from Sokoto state on 27 August 1991. Of the 36 states of Nigeria,Kebbi is the tenth largest in area and 18th most populous,with an estimated population of about 4.4 million as of 2016. The state is known as land of equity.
Birnin Kebbi is a city located in Northwestern Nigeria It is the capital city of Kebbi State and headquarter of the Gwandu Emirate. As at 2007 the city had an estimated population of 125,594 people. Kebbi is mostly a Hausa and Fulani state,with Islam as the major religion. Formerly it was the capital of the Kebbi Emirate,which relocated to Argungu after the conquest by Gwandu in 1831. The town remained the capital of Kebbi until 1805,when it was burned in the Fulani jihad by Abdullahi dan Fodio,a brother of the jihad leader and later Emir of Gwandu. After Birnin Kebbi was incorporated into the Fulani Emirate of Gwandu,it was eclipsed in political importance by Gwandu (Gando) town,30 miles (48 km) east,and as a caravan and riverside market centre by Jega,20 miles (32 km) southeast,which lay at the head of navigation on the Zamfara River,a tributary of the Sokoto. Ironically,while Argungu became the traditional seat of the king of Kebbi in 1827,Birnin Kebbi served as the Gwandu emirate headquarters after Emir Haliru was inaugurated there in 1906. Birnin Kebbi became the capital of the newly created Nigerian state of Kebbi in 1991.
Brigadier General Samuel Bature Chamah was Administrator of Katsina State in Nigeria from August 1996 to August 1998 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha,and then of Kebbi State from August 1998 to May 1999 during the transitional regime of General Abdulsalami Abubakar,handing over power to the elected civilian governor Adamu Aliero on 29 May 1999.

The 2023 Kebbi State gubernatorial election was held on 18 March 2023,to elect the Governor of Kebbi State,concurrent with elections to the Kebbi State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election —which was postponed from its original 11 March date —was held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu was term-limited and could not seek re-election to a third term. Nasir Idris,a teachers' union leader,held the office for the APC by a margin of 6% over the PDP nominee —former Army major general Aminu Bande.
Bala Ibn Na'allah is a Nigerian politician and senator. He is representing Kebbi South Senatorial seat in the Senate of Nigeria and was the Deputy Majority leader in the 8th Nigerian senate. On August 29,2021,Na'allah's eldest son,Abdulkarim Bala Na'Allah was murdered by unknown assailants in his residence in Kaduna state. In 2023,Na'allah lost his reelection to the Senate as he was defeated by Garba Maidoki who polled 75,232 votes while Na'allah scored 70,785.

Amongst several other projects,he provided educational and medical support to his constituents.

He succeeded Uthman Munir and was elected into the House of Assembly at the 2019 elections under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Muhammad Bello Yakubu is a Nigerian politician. He served as a member representing Bunza/Birnin Kebbi/Kalgo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. Born in 1962,he hails from Kebbi State. He succeeded Abdulahi Faruk and was elected into the House of Assembly at the 2019 elections. He decamped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2022. He was defeated by Abba Bello Mohammed at the party primaries for the 2023 elections.
