The Reserve Officers' Training Corps is a group of college- and university-based officer-training programs for training commissioned officers of the United States Armed Forces.
The University Officers' Training Corps (UOTC), also known as the Officers' Training Corps (OTC), are British Army training units which recruit from universities. Their focus is to develop the leadership abilities of their members whilst giving them an opportunity to take part in military life and training whilst at university. While in the UOTC, Officer Cadets will undertake the Reserve Officer Training Modules. UOTCs also organise non-military outdoor pursuits such as hill walking and mountaineering amongst other sports.

A military reserve force is a military organization whose members (reservists) have military and civilian occupations. They are not normally kept under arms, and their main role is to be available when their military requires additional manpower. Reserve forces are generally considered part of a permanent standing body of armed forces, and allow a nation to reduce its peacetime military expenditures and maintain a force prepared for war. During peacetime, reservists typically serve part-time alongside a civilian job, although most reserve forces have a significant permanent full-time component as well. Reservists may be deployed for weeks or months-long missions during peacetime to support specific operations. During wartime, reservists may be kept in service for months or years at a time, although typically not for as long as active duty soldiers.
The Basic Officer Leader Course (BOLC) is a two-phased training course designed to commission officers and prepare them for service in the United States Army. Prospective officers complete Phase I as either a cadet or an officer candidate before continuing on to BOLC B as Second Lieutenants. If BOLC B is not completed within two years of commissioning, 2LTs will be administratively separated from the service unless there are extenuating circumstances. This a progressive model designed to produce US Army officers with leadership skills, small unit tactics and certain branch-specific capabilities.

The Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps is a federal program sponsored by the United States Armed Forces in high schools and also in some middle schools across the United States and at US military bases across the world. The program was originally created as part of the National Defense Act of 1916 and later expanded under the 1964 ROTC Vitalization Act.
Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (AFJROTC) is an elective class offered in many high schools across the United States. It is the junior division of a U.S. Air Force Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program composed of physical training, aerospace science academic classes, and leadership skill creation. Outside of the formal class, there are extra-curricular teams that cadets may participate in to create qualities of leadership and followership. Unlike the collegiate version of ROTC, upon completion of JROTC there is no military service required. This allows the youth of the United States to experience the military without having long-term commitments.
The University of Santo Tomas Golden Corps of Cadets (UST-GCC) also referred to as the UST ROTC Unit is a Reserve Officers' Training Corps unit implementing one of the optional components of the Philippines' National Service Training Program (NSTP) in the University of Santo Tomas. The NSTP is a civic education and preparedness program for college students, the ROTC component of which aims to provide military education and training to mobilize them for national defense preparedness.
