Unnikrishna Pillai

Unnikrishna Pillai is a professor of electrical engineering at the New York University Tandon School of Engineering in Brooklyn, New York. He was named a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2015 [1] for his work in adaptive signal processing and radar systems.

Unnikrishnan received his B.S. in electronics engineering from the Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), India (1977), his master's degree in electrical engineering from I.I.T. Kanpur, India (1982), and his PhD in systems engineering from the Moore School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania in 1985. He also worked as a Radar engineer at Bharat Electronics Limited in Bangalore, India from 1978 to 1980.

In September 1985, Unnikrishnan joined the department of Electrical Engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of New York in Brooklyn as an Assistant Professor. Since 1995, Unnikrishnan has been a professor of electrical and computer engineering. He is the author/coauthor of five textbooks, four e-books on Probability, and over one hundred thirty technical publications. His present research activities include radar signal processing, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) applications for moving target detection, spectrum estimation, and system identification, waveform design, risk/reward strategies for long-term growth and investment and automated path planning for self driving vehicles on the road and up in the air (drones).

Peter Mitchell Grant OBE, FREng, FRSE, FIEE, FIEEE, FHEA, Eurasip Fellow is Senior Honorary Professorial Fellow, former Regius Professor of Engineering and Head of School of Engineering and Electronics at the University of Edinburgh. In 2004 he was awarded the 82nd Faraday Medal by the Institute of Electrical Engineers for his 'outstanding contributions to signal processing'.

He secured a doctoral degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and joined Defence Research and Development Organization in 1961, involving himself with the indigenous development of radar technology till his retirement, as a Distinguished Scientist, in 1989.

Palghat P. Vaidyanathan is the Kiyo and Eiko Tomiyasu Professor of Electrical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, California, USA, where he teaches and leads research in the area of signal processing, especially digital signal processing (DSP), and its applications. He has authored four books, and authored or coauthored close to six hundred papers in various IEEE journals and conferences. Prof. Vaidyanathan received his B.Tech. and M.Tech. degrees from the Institute of Radiophysics and Electronics, Science College campus of University of Kolkata, and a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of California Santa Barbara in 1982.

Mangalore Anantha Pai was an Indian electrical engineer, academic and a professor emeritus at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. A former professor of electrical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, he is known for his contributions in the fields of power stability, power grids, large scale power system analysis, system security and optimal control of nuclear reactors and he has published 8 books and several articles. Pai is the first India-born scientist to be awarded a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.

Suhash Chandra Dutta Roy is an Indian electrical engineer and a former professor and head of the department of electrical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He is known for his studies on analog and digital signal processing and is an elected fellow of all the three major Indian science academies viz. Indian Academy of Sciences, Indian National Science Academy, National Academy of Sciences, India as well as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, Systems Society of India and Acoustical Society of India, The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research, awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest Indian science awards for his contributions to Engineering Sciences in 1981.
