Gombe State is a state in northeastern Nigeria,bordered to the north and northeast by the states of Borno for 93 km in the vicinity of Gongola River and Lake Dadin Kowa and Yobe in the vicinity of Gongola River for 140 km,to the south by Taraba State for 58 km,to the southeast by Adamawa State for 95 km,and to the west by Bauchi State for 277 km. Gombe is the state capital of Gombe state and it was formed from a part of Bauchi State on 1 October 1996. Of the 36 states in Nigeria,Gombe is the 21st largest in area and the 32nd most populous,with an estimated population of about 3.25 million as of 2016. The state bears a slogan "Jewel in the Savannah".
Mohammed Danjuma Goje was a former Governor of Gombe State,Nigeria under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP),taking office on 29 May 2003 during the 2003 Gombe State gubernatorial election. He is now a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kumo is a city and the headquarters of Akko local government in Gombe state,northeastern Nigeria. Kumo is the second largest commercial center in Gombe state,It is located on the A345 highway approximately 40 km south of Gombe. It serves as a collecting point for vegetables,peanuts (groundnuts),cotton,and corn (maize) and as a local trade centre for the sorghum,millet,cowpeas,cassava (manioc),goats,cattle,sheep,fowl,and cotton raised by the Fulani,Tangale,and Hausa peoples of the surrounding area.The secondary highway between Gombe and Yola serves the town.

The 2023 Nigerian gubernatorial elections were held for state governors in 31 out of 36 Nigerian states. All but three elections were held on 18 March—concurrent with elections to every state house of assembly,three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections—while the Imo State,Kogi State,and Bayelsa State elections will be held on 11 November. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya is running for a second term and was renominated by his party.
The 2015 Nigerian Senate election in Gombe State was held on March 28,2015,to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Gombe State. Mohammed Danjuma Goje representing Gombe Central and Usman Bayero Nafada representing Gombe North won on the platform of All Progressives Congress,while Joshua Moltobok representing Gombe South won on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party.
The 2019 Nigerian House of Representatives elections in Gombe State was held on February 23,2019,to elect members of the House of Representatives to represent Gombe State,Nigeria.
The 2023 Nigerian House of Representatives elections were held on 25 February 2023 where voters elected members of the House of Representatives using first-past-the-post voting in all 360 federal constituencies. The last regular House elections for all districts were in 2019.
The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Gombe State will be held on 25 February 2023,to elect the 3 federal Senators from Gombe State,one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election,as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives;with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
