Career

Brasseur is the director of Open Source Strategy for Juniper Networks and former Vice President of the Open Source Initiative. [1] [2] [3]

Brasseur is a frequent keynote speaker at tech conferences where she often discusses issues of community management and technological challenges in open source projects and environments, especially when they intersect with business environments. [4] [5] [6]

Brasseur has written many articles for publications including Linux Journal [7] and opensource.com, for which she has also been a moderator. [8] [9] Her 2018 book Forge Your Future with Open Source [10] aimed to help newcomers get started in participating in the open source software community. The book was listed number 11 in BookAuthority's 21 Best New Software Development Books To Read In 2019. [11]

Awards

Brasseur is the winner of the Perl White Camel Award in 2014 and the O'Reilly Open Source Award in 2016. [12] [13] She won an Opensource.com Moderator's Choice Award in 2018 [14] and in 2019. [15]

Audrey Tang is a Taiwanese free software programmer and Digital Minister of Taiwan, who has been described as one of the "ten greatest Taiwanese computing personalities". In August 2016, Tang was invited to join Taiwan's Executive Yuan as a minister without portfolio, making her the first transgender and the first non-binary official in the top executive cabinet. Tang has identified as "post-gender" and accepts "whatever pronoun people want to describe me with online." Tang is a community leader of Haskell and Perl and the core member of G0v.

David Heinemeier Hansson is a Danish programmer, and the creator of the popular Ruby on Rails web development framework and the Instiki wiki. He is also a partner at the web-based software development firm Basecamp.

FLOSS Weekly is a free and open-source software (FLOSS) themed netcast from the TWiT Network. The show premiered on April 7, 2006, and features interviews with prominent guests from the free software/open source community. It was originally hosted by Leo Laporte; his cohost for the first seventeen episodes was Chris DiBona and subsequently Randal Schwartz. In May 2010, Schwartz took over from Laporte as lead host. May 2020 saw Doc Searls take over the host role in episode 578.

Allison Randal is a software developer and author. She was the chief architect of the Parrot virtual machine, a member of the board of directors for The Perl Foundation, a director of the Python Software Foundation from 2010 to 2012, and the chairman of the Parrot Foundation.
