Fotbal Club FCSB, formerly named FC Steaua București, is a Romanian professional football club based in Bucharest. It has spent its entire history in the top flight of the Romanian league system, the Liga I.

Cornel Durău is a retired Romanian handball player. Between 1976 and 1990 he played 200 games for the national team and scored 435 goals. He competed at the 1980 and 1984 Olympics and a three world championships, and won three bronze medals. At the club level he played for Dinamo Bucharest, Hidrotehnica Constanța and CB Torrevieja before finishing his career in Germany.
Marian Dumitru is a retired Romanian handball player. Between 1980 and 1996 he played 231 matches for the national team and scored 754 goals. He competed at the 1980, 1984 and 1992 Olympics and 1982, 1986 and 1990 world championships and won bronze medals in 1980, 1984 and 1990. At the club level he played for Steaua Bucharest, winning 11 national championships and reaching the EHF Champions League final in 1989. The same year, he signed for TEKA Santander in Spain, where he won the EHF Cup Winners' Cup in 1990. He then went to play in the Bundesliga for TSV Bayer Dormagen. In the 1993–94 season, he won the EHF Cup with Alzira Avidesa.
Cezar Drăgăniță is a retired Romanian handball player. He won the world title in 1974 and two Olympic medals in 1976 and 1980. At the club level he spent most of his career with Steaua Bucharest, winning with them 15 national titles; he also participated in seven tournaments of the EHF Champions League, winning one in 1977. Near the end of his career he played and coached in Belgium and Portugal.
Ştefan Birtalan was a Romanian handball player, coach and sports official.
Cristian Gațu is a retired Romanian handball player. He earned 212 caps with the national team, winning the world title in 1970 and 1974 and medalling at the 1972 and 1976 Olympics. After retiring from competitions he became a coach and sports official, appointed as Secretary of State for Youth and Sports in 1991–1993 and President of the Romanian Handball Federation in 1997–2014.
Cornel Penu is a retired Romanian handball goalkeeper. He earned 257 caps with the national team and won the world title in 1970 and 1974 and two Olympic medals in 1972 and 1976. He was named Best Goalkeeper at the 1974 World Championships, and was selected for the World Team three times: in 1973, 1975 and 1976.
Gheorghe "Ghiţă" Licu was a Romanian handball pivot player. Between 1966 and 1976 he capped 197 times for the national team and scored 328 goals, winning world titles in 1970 and 1974 and Olympic medals in 1972 and 1976. Domestically he played his entire career from 1964 to 1980 for Dinamo Bucuresti, winning the national titles in 1965, 1966 and 1978 and the Romanian Cup in 1979. After retiring from competitions Licu became a handball coach. In 1980–1993 he worked with Dinamo Bucuresti in Romania, and in 1995–2006 with SC Magdeburg in Germany, first with the junior and then with the senior team, leading them to the German national title in 2001 and the EHF Champions League victory in 2002. His son Robert also became an Olympic handball player and coach.

Dinamo București has rivalry with Steaua București.
