Valerie Gogan (born 1960or1961 [1] ) is a Scottish actress. Gogan was born in Scotland and left Glasgow in the 1980s to train at LAMDA. She made her film debut in Dangerous Liaisons . She later starred in One More Kiss and Heart of the High Country , [2] and had a major recurring role in the BBC series Hamish Macbeth . She is also known for principal roles in Waking the Dead , The Bill , Doctors as Beth Carlyle, [3] Peak Practice and David Copperfield . On stage, she has worked with The Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal National Theatre and in London's West End, appearing in, among others, A Doll's House , Les liaisons dangereuses , The Rehearsal and The Secret Rapture .[ citation needed ]

Margaret Valerie Masterson, is a retired English opera singer, a lecturer and Vice-President of British Youth Opera. After study in Italy, she began to sing opera in Europe. The third series of the British medical soap opera Doctors originally aired between 3 September 2001 and 22 May 2002. It consisted of 129 episodes. The series saw multiple castings due to a large amount of cast exits in the previous series. These included new regulars Ariyon Bakare, Tabitha Wady, Natalie J. Robb, Tom Butcher, Nicole Arumugam and Tim Downie, amongst other recurring cast members. Wady and Arumugam departed from their roles at the conclusion of the series. The series received an average of 2.5 million viewers.
