Valeri Vladimirovich Belenki is a retired Azerbaijani artistic gymnast who competed in the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics.
Tamara Ivanovna Manina is a retired Soviet Olympic gymnast and a sports scientist.
Valery Nikolayevich Yardy was a Russian road cyclist who competed in the 1968 and 1972 Olympics. In 1968 he placed 17th individually and ninth with the Soviet team. Four years later he failed to finish his individual race, but won a gold medal with the team. Yardy won another team gold medal at the 1970 World Championships.
Valeri Viktorovich Liukin is a Kazakh-American retired artistic gymnast currently working as a gymnastics coach. Representing the former Soviet Union, Liukin was the 1988 Olympic champion in the team competition and individually on the horizontal bar, and Olympic silver medalist in the all-around and the parallel bars.
Yuri Nikolayevich Korolyov was a Soviet artistic gymnast who competed during the 1980s, winning many World and European Medals. Part of a deep Soviet team that, throughout the 1980s, featured such names as Dmitry Bilozerchev, Valeri Liukin, Vladimir Artemov, Valentin Mogilny, and others, Korolyov still managed to distinguish himself for the greater part of the decade by becoming World All-Around Champion in 1981 and 1985, as well as being World Cup All-Around Co-Champion in 1986, among many other titles and medals.
Viktor Yakovlevich Klimenko is a retired Russian gymnast. He competed for the Soviet Union at the 1968 and 1972 Olympics and won a team silver medal on each occasion. Individually he earned a bronze medal in parallel bars in 1968, as well as a gold medal in pommel horse and a silver medal in vault in 1972. At the world championships Klimenko collected four medals in 1970–1974. His wife Larisa Petrik is also a former Olympic gymnast.
András Balczó is a retired Hungarian modern pentathlete. He competed at the 1960, 1968 and 1972 Olympics in the individual and team events and won three gold and two silver medal; he missed only one medal, finishing fourth individually in 1960.
Alexei Bondarenko is a gymnast who competed for Russia from 1996 to 2004. He won two medals at the 2000 Summer Olympics – silver on the vault and bronze in the team event.
Elena Dmitriyevna Novikova-Belova is a retired Russian foil fencer, known professionally simply as Elena Belova. She competed at the 1968, 1972, 1976 and 1980 Olympics in the individual and team events and won four gold, one silver and one bronze medal, becoming the first female fencer to win four Olympic gold medals. She nearly won a fifth gold in 1976, but lost her last pool match to the last-placed fencer. Belova also won eight world titles, individually in 1969, and with the Soviet team in 1970–1979.
Larisa Leonidovna Petrik is a former Russian gymnast and Olympic champion. Petrik competed at the 1966 World Championships where she shared the team silver medal and earned an individual bronze medal on the beam. She also competed at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, where she received a gold medal in floor exercise, a gold medal in the team final, and a bronze medal in balance beam. Her gold medal on floor was very controversial because originally, Čáslavská won outright. After the competition was concluded, Petrik's prelims scores were changed to let her tie with Čáslavská, an action which caused Čáslavská to publicly defy the Soviets who had recently invaded her home country.
Valeri Ivanovich Kravchenko is a Soviet former volleyball player who competed for the Soviet Union in the 1968 Summer Olympics and in the 1972 Summer Olympics. He was born in the Kabodiyen, Khatlon, Tajik SSR. He played for Burevestnik Alma-Ata. In 1968, he was part of the Soviet team which won the gold medal in the Olympic tournament. He played eight matches. Four years later he won the bronze medal with the Soviet team in the 1972 Olympic tournament. He played six matches.
The men's horizontal bar competition was one of eight events for male competitors in artistic gymnastics at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. The qualification and final rounds took place on July 20, 22 and 28th at the Georgia Dome. There were 105 competitors from 31 nations, with nations in the team event having up to 7 gymnasts and other nations having up to 3 gymnasts. The event was won by Andreas Wecker of Germany, the nation's first victory in the men's horizontal bar since 1896. Wecker, who had won silver four years earlier, was the ninth man to win multiple medals in the event. Silver in 1996 went to Krasimir Dunev, Bulgaria's first horizontal bar medalist since 1980. There was a three-way tie for bronze: Russia and Belarus earned medals in their first independent appearances with Alexei Nemov and Vitaly Scherbo, respectively, while Fan Bin earned China's first medal in the event since 1984.
Olga Karasyova, also known as Olga Kovalenko, is a former Soviet gymnast who competed in the 1968 Summer Olympics. Olga was coached by Igor Zhuravlev at CSKA Moscow. She is married to fellow gymnast Valery Karasyov, and studied French at the Pedagogical Institute.
Olga Tass was a Hungarian gymnast who competed at the 1948, 1952, 1956, and 1960 Summer Olympics. She was born in Pécs.
Viktor Nikitovich Lisitsky was a Russian gymnast. He competed in all artistic gymnastics events at the 1964 and 1968 Summer Olympics and won five silver medals, three individual in 1964 and two with the Soviet team, in 1964 and 1968.
Denis Mikhailovich Ablyazin is a Russian artistic gymnast. Ablyazin is Olympic Champion 2020 in Tokyo and a seven-time Olympic Games medalist. At the 2012 London Olympics he won silver in vault and bronze in floor. At the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, he won silver with the Russian men's team, a silver in vault and bronze in rings.
Valery Panayotovich Kerdemelidi is a retired artistic gymnast from Russia. He competed at the 1960 Summer Olympics in all artistic gymnastics events and won a silver medal in the team allround competition. Individually his best result was ninth place on the rings and horizontal bar.
Valery Leonidovich Ilyinykh was a Soviet gymnast. He competed at the 1968 Summer Olympics in all artistic gymnastics events and won a silver medal in the team competition. Individually his best result was eighth place on the horizontal bar.
Nikita Vladimirovich Nagornyy is a Russian artistic gymnast and two-time Olympian, representing Russia in 2016 and ROC in 2020. He was part of the teams who won gold at the 2020 Olympic Games and 2019 World Championships and silver at the 2016 Olympic Games and 2018 World Championships.
Nikolay Karasyov is a retired Russian shot putter. He competed at the 1964 Summer Olympics and finished in sixth place. He won a silver medal at the 1966 European Athletics Championships and was the gold medallist at the 1967 European Indoor Games. He had a personal best of 19.74 m, set in 1970.
