Vasudhendra is an Indian author in Kannada language known for his short stories and personal essays.
Vasudhendra was born at Sandur in the Bellary district of Karnataka.[ citation needed ] He graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the National Institute of Technology, Karnataka. [1] He then did his Master of Engineering from Indian Institute of Science.[ citation needed ] He had been a software professional since 20 years.[ citation needed ] He was also the Vice President at Genisys Software.[ citation needed ]
Vasudhendra came out as gay in the interviews with prajavani and other media houses. [2] [3]
He has started his own publication house called the Chanda Pustaka. Through this he has given encouragement to many upcoming writers of Kannada. It has published around 100 books till date and these books have won more than 100 prestigious awards. He has instituted an award 'Chanda Pustaka Bahumana', which will be given to a fresh and young short story writer every year by publishing his first anthology along with a cash prize. He publishes all his books through this publication house and he looks after sales and marketing of his publications.
Being a hiker, he has trekked across Western Ghats. He has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro of Tanzania and trekked to Kailash & Mansarovar of Tibet. He is a regular squash player. World Cinema, Mahabharata and Indian classical music are his other passions. He decided not to watch television 12 years back and he follows this till date.
Vasudendra has also done a professional course in counseling and spends most of his time these days in counseling his clients [Ref:Hindu Article].
He is also a visiting faculty in Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering where he is respected and revered by his students.
Vasudhendra is also associated with a local support group for LGBT individuals, called GoodAsYou. He has been doing a lot of activism for gay rights in Karnataka and in his latest interview with vishwavani, he argued that most people do not have sex just for procreation but also for recreation and oppression against gays is similar to that against dalits and made references to early Hindu texts.
Kuppali Puttappa Poornachandra Tejaswi was a prominent Indian writer and novelist in Kannada. He also worked as a photographer, publisher, painter, naturalist, and environmentalist. He made a great impression in the Navya ("new") period of Kannada literature and inaugurated the Bandaaya Saahitya genre of protest literature with his short-story collection Abachoorina Post Offisu. He is the son of noted Kannada poet Kuvempu.
K.V. Akshara is a director, playwright and writer in the Kannada language. He is the son of the writer K.V. Subbanna. He is a prominent figure in contemporary Kannada theatre.
M. Chidananda Murthy was a Kannada writer, researcher and historian. He was a well-known scholar in Karnataka specializing in the history of Kannada language and ancient Karnataka. Chandrashekhara Kambara is a prominent Indian poet, playwright, folklorist, film director in Kannada language and the founder-vice-chancellor of Kannada University in Hampi also president of the Sahitya Akademi, country's premier literary institution, after Vinayak Krishna Gokak (1983) and U.R. Ananthamurthy (1993). He is known for effective adaptation of the North Karnataka dialect of the Kannada language in his plays, and poems, in a similar style as in the works of D.R. Bendre.

Dr.Parvathamma Rajkumar was an Indian film producer and distributor. She was the wife of veteran Kannada actor Dr. Rajkumar. She produced successful films featuring Rajkumar and their sons Shiva Rajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar under the production house named "Poornima Enterprises". Actresses who found fame in her productions include Malashri, Prema, Rakshita, Sudha Rani and Ramya. She was awarded a doctorate from Bangalore University.
Patil Puttappa was an Indian writer, veteran journalist and activist based in Hubli, India. He was the founder-editor of the now-defunct Kannada daily Vishwavani and weekly Prapancha.
R. Ganesh is a practitioner of the art of avadhana, a polyglot, an author in Sanskrit and Kannada and an extempore poet in multiple languages. He has performed more than 1300 avadhanas, in Kannada, Sanskrit, Telugu and Prakrit. He is known for extempore composition of poetry (āśukavita) during these performances, and even of chitrakavya. He is the only Śatāvadhāni from Karnataka. He once set a record by composing poetry for twenty-four hours continuously. From 30 November 2012 to 2 December 2012, he performed the first ever Shatavadhana entirely in Kannada. On 16 February 2014, in Bangalore, he performed his 1000th avadhāna.
Balaji Tangali Lalitha Naik is an Indian social activist, politician, writer, film actress who was the minister of Kannada, Culture, and Department of Women & Child Welfare of Karnataka. Naik has also served as an MLC (1986-1992) and MLA (1994-1999). She won the Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award in 1991. She is also known for leading important literary, social and language-rights movements such as Bandaya movement and Gokak agitation.
Dr. T. Jayalakshmi, known by her pen name as Dr. Jayalakshmi Seethapura, is one of the eminent folklorists of modern India who writes in Kannada language. She is a retired Folklore professor of Mysore University. Jayalakshmi has performed hundreds of state and national level cultural competitions as judge. Her books on folklore have well received by the readers of Karnataka.
Doddarangegowda is a Kannada poet and a lyricist working for Kannada cinema. He is a retired professor of Kannada and has published a number of anthologies in Kannada. He has released several audio cassettes and CDs of his poems. Some of his noteworthy songs are Tera Yeri Ambaradaage and Notadaage Nageya Meeti of Parasangada Gendethimma, Nammoora Mandara Hoove of Aalemane, Sri Rama Bandavne of Paduvaaralli Pandavaru. He was also a Bharatiya Janata Party MLC. In 2018, he was awarded with the civilian award Padma Shri.
Dr. Manu Baligar is an Indian Kannada writer, author, playwright, former civil servant and the current president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat. He hails from Shigli in Gadag district, and is the elder brother of V. P. Baligar, a retired Indian Administrative Service officer and former chairman of Housing and Urban Development Corporation. He was a civil servant in the Karnataka Administrative Service, and retired as the commissioner of Department of Kannada and Culture, Government of Karnataka. He was elected the president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat, an apex body for the promotion of Kannada language, on 3 March 2016 for a term of three years which was later legally extended to five years. He has been conferred with many coveted honors including the highly prestigious Nadoja Award by the Hampi University in 2019 and also an honorary doctorate for literature from Karnataka University Dharwad. Also, he has been conferred with two gold medals for his exemplary work on IRDP during his career as a civil servant.
Vidushi Shashikala Dani is an Indian Hindustani classical Jal tarang artist. She is one among the few musicians and presently the only All India Radio-graded female exponent of the Jal tarang. She is a multi-instrument artist with concert & teaching experience in Jal tarang, Harmonium, Sitar, Violin, Dilruba and Tabla. She is also an All India Radio-graded vocalist in the Gamaka genre of Hindustani Light Music.

Betageri Krishnasharma, popularly known by his pen name Anandakanda was a writer, editor and journalist from Karnataka. His writings included different genres such as poetry, short stories, novels, dramas, metaphors, criticism, research, folklore and autobiographies.
Chidananda Parasappa Siddhashrama, known as CPS or Prof. Siddhashrama is an Indian academic, writer, critic and poet, known for his works in Kannada. He is a retired professor of Mysore University where he served as the acting Vice Chancellor. In 2020, for his contributions to the field of literature, Siddhashrama has been awarded the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award by Government of Karnataka.
