Verkehrsgewerkschaft GDBA

The Verkehrsgewerkschaft GDBA ("transport union GDBA") was a German trade union.

It was founded on May 23, 1948 in North Rhine-Westphalia as "Gewerkschaft Deutscher Bundesbahnbeamten und Anwärter" and was a member of the German Civil Service Federation.

Since autumn 2005 GDBA worked together with the "rival" union Transnet.

On November 30, 2010 the delegates of a union convention in Fulda decided to merge with Transnet to the new union EVG.

Transnet Freight Rail is a South African rail transport company, formerly known as Spoornet. It was part of the South African Railways and Harbours Administration, a state-controlled organisation that employed hundreds of thousands of people for decades from the first half of the 20th century and was widely referred to by the initials SAR&H. Customer complaints about serious problems with Transnet Freight Rail's service were reported in 2010. Its head office is in Inyanda House in Parktown, Johannesburg.

The Black Trade Union of Transnet Workers (BLATU) was a Company union set up by the South African Railways and Harbours Administration in 1981. In 1982 it claimed a membership of 60,000, out of 95,000 black employees. Union dues were collected by the company, whose supervisors selected the officials. It was intended to supplant the South African Railways and Harbours Union (SARHWU).
