Vetle Bergsvik Thorn (born 1999) is a Norwegian triathlete. His achievements include two gold medals at the 2023 European Games, in men's individual competition and in the mixed relay. [1]

Biography

Thorn was born in 1999. [2]

He won a gold medal in the men's individual competition at the 2023 European Games in Poland. [3] He was also part of the Norwegian winning team in the mixed relay at the 2023 European Games, along with Lotte Miller, Casper Stornes and Solveig Løvseth. [4] [5]

Non Rhiannydd Stanford is a British former professional triathlete, representing Great Britain and Wales at international level. Stanford was the ITU World Champion in 2013, part of the Great Britain world champion mixed relay team in 2012 and represented Team GB at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, where she finished fourth behind teammate and housemate Vicky Holland. Hindered thereafter by recurrent injuries, she struggled to repeat the dominant form of her early years. The Triathlon competitions at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, in Glasgow, were held in Strathclyde Country Park. The men's and women's individual events were held on Thursday 24 July and women's triathlon was the first medal event of the Games. Mixed team relay was held on Saturday 26 July for the first time ever in major multi-sport Games. Marisol Casado, ITU President and IOC member, commented: "We are delighted the Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee has embraced the Triathlon Mixed Relay. Triathlon is on currently on a high in the United Kingdom, and the Mixed Relay will offer an extra opportunity for the people of Glasgow to watch another thrilling and unpredictable event live on their city streets."

The triathlon mixed at the 2023 European Games, in Kraków, was held on 1 July 2023. A total of 16 teams of four athletes each, two men and two women running in the male - female - male - female format will compete over the super-sprint relay distance. This will be the first appearance of triathlon mixed relay in the European Games program. Both the reigning Olympic and World Champions at mixed relay, Great Britain and France, are set to start : both have already qualified for the event in Paris 2024.
