Vexatious (foaled April 9, 2014) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse and the winner of the 2020 Personal Ensign Stakes. [1]
Vexatious's first race was on October 28, 2016, at Santa Anita, where she came in third. She picked up her first win in a Maiden Special Weight race on November 26, 2016, at Del Mar. [2]
She started competing in stakes races during the 2017 season. Through five stakes races, her best results were 3rd-place finishes at the Grade-2 April 1, 2017 Fair Grounds Oaks and the April 14th, 2017, Grade-3 Fantasy Stakes. [1]
Vexatious did not pick up another win until August 15, 2018, when she won the listed August 15, 2018, CTT and TOC Stakes (Black Type) at Del Mar. [1]
On October 21, 2018, she won her first graded stakes race when she won the Grade-3 2018 Dowager Stakes after Beach Flower was disqualified. [3] Vexatious came into the race at 4:1 odds and received $75,000 for the victory. She followed the victory up with a 3rd-place finish at the November 22nd, 2018, Grade-3 Red Carpet Handicap to close the 2018 season.
She had a disappointing 2019 season going winless. Her best results were 2nd-place finishes at the Grade-3 July Modesty Handicap and the August Summer Colony Stakes. [1]
Her 2020 season did not start out much better, as she was only able to manage a 5th-place finish in an Allowance Optional Claiming Race, a 3rd-place finish in an Allowance race and a 2nd-place finish at the Grade-2 Ruffian Stakes. Her luck finally changed though on August 1, 2020. At 9:1 odds, she defeated favorite Midnight Bisou and captured her first ever Grade-1 victory by winning the Personal Ensign Stakes. [4] [5]

Personal Ensign was a champion Thoroughbred racehorse who retired undefeated with 13 wins. At the time, this was the longest win streak for a horse at the elite level of American racing in 80 years. Her come-from-behind victory in the 1988 Breeders' Cup Distaff over Kentucky Derby winner Winning Colors is considered one of the most memorable performances of the Breeders' Cup era.
Cara Rafaela was a grey Kentucky thoroughbred mare, by the stallion Quiet American out of a Spectacular Bid mare Oil Fable. She was a Grade 1 stakes winner and the 2006 Kentucky Broodmare of the Year.
Close Hatches is a retired American Thoroughbred racehorse. Unraced as a two-year-old, she emerged as one of the leading fillies of her generation in the United States in 2013 when she won five of her eight races including the Gazelle Stakes, Mother Goose Stakes and Cotillion Handicap. In the following year she won the Grade II Azeri Stakes before recording successive Grade I victories in the Apple Blossom Handicap, Ogden Phipps Handicap and Personal Ensign Stakes.
Songbird is a retired US Hall of Fame Thoroughbred racehorse who was a two-time Eclipse Award winner. She won thirteen times, nine of them in Grade I races, and had career earnings of almost $4.7 million.
More So was an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. She showed considerable promise when winning her only start as a juvenile in 1977 and then took the Irish 1000 Guineas on her three-year-old debut. She won the Desmond Stakes later that year before being exported to the United States where she won the Palomar Handicap in 1979. Her subsequent North American career was disappointing and she was retired from racing at the end of the 1980 season. She made no impact as a broodmare.

Sol Kumin is an American business leader, Thoroughbred racehorse owner and philanthropist. In May 2018, he became the first owner since 1952 to have both a Kentucky Oaks and a Kentucky Derby winner in the same weekend. He was a co-owner of Justify; winner of the Triple Crown. In Kumin's first decade of horseracing, through his horses at Madaket Stables, he won 92 Grade One races, 12 Breeders Cups, the Preakness Stakes three times and the Kentucky Derby twice.

Monomoy Girl is a retired American Thoroughbred racehorse who was the American Champion Three-Year-Old Filly of 2018 and Champion Older Female Horse of 2020. She showed very promising form as a juvenile in 2017 when she won her first three races before being narrowly beaten in the Golden Rod Stakes. In the following spring, she took the Rachel Alexandra Stakes and the Ashland Stakes before winning the Kentucky Oaks, the filly equivalent of the Kentucky Derby. She followed this up with wins in the Acorn Stakes and Coaching Club American Oaks, but was disqualified to second for interference in the Cotillion Stakes. She then rebounded to win the Breeders' Cup Distaff while facing older horses for the first time.
Blush With Pride was an American Thoroughbred racehorse. A winner of the Kentucky Oaks, Blush With Pride won graded stakes races on both dirt and turf during her racing career. She later went on to become an important broodmare.
