The Georgia State Senate is the upper house of the Georgia General Assembly,in the U.S. state of Georgia. The Georgia State Senate and the lower house of the General Assembly,the Georgia House of Representatives,comprise the bicameral legislature of the state. Together,the Senate and the House maintain authority under Article III. of the 1983 Constitution of Georgia to enact laws "necessary and proper for the welfare of the state",although state law is subordinate to the state constitution,the United States Constitution,and federal law.

As these U.S. Senate elections were prior to the ratification of the Seventeenth Amendment in 1913,senators were chosen by state legislatures. Senators were elected over a wide range of time throughout 1902 and 1903,and a seat may have been filled months late or remained vacant due to legislative deadlock. She is a former member of the Kansas House of Representatives representing the 113th district from March 19,2019,to January 11,2021. A resident of Ellinwood,Kansas,she was selected by Republican precinct committee members on March 12,2019,to succeed former Rep. Greg Lewis (R),who resigned due to health issues. Senator Straub was formally appointed by Governor Laura Kelly to the seat on March 14 and was sworn in by Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab on March 19. Prior to her election to the House of Representatives,she served as a county commissioner in Barton County,Kansas and was the commission chairman from January to March 2019. She resigned from the county commission from a meeting on March 18,2019,in order to take her seat in the Kansas Legislature.
Freda Warfield is an American politician who served as a member of the Kansas House of Representatives,as the representative of the 58th district in Topeka,Kansas,from 2019 to 2021. She was selected by Democratic Party precinct committee members on December 27,2018,to succeed Democratic Rep. Vic Miller,who had been picked by precinct committee members to succeed Democratic Sen. Laura Kelly,who was resigning from the Senate after her election as Governor of Kansas. Warfield's election was to fill the two-year term Miller had won in the 2018 election.
