The Brier, known as the Montana's Brier for sponsorship reasons, is the annual Canadian men's curling championship, sanctioned by Curling Canada. The current event name refers to its main sponsor, Montana's, a Canadian restaurant chain. "Brier" originally referred to a brand of tobacco sold by the event's first sponsor, the Macdonald Tobacco Company.
The 2006 Scott Tournament of Hearts, the Canadian women's curling championship, was held at the John Labatt Centre in London, Ontario, February 25, 2006 – March 6, 2006. The tournament consists of 12 teams, one from each of Canada's provinces, one from Canada's territories and the defending champion, whose team is known as Team Canada. The tournament was the 25th anniversary of the Hearts. The winner would be Kelly Scott's British Columbia rink who defeated the defending champions, Jennifer Jones in the final.
Jean-Michel Ménard is a curler from Aylmer, Quebec, Canada. Ménard is notable for being the first Francophone born skip from Quebec to win the Brier - Canada's national curling championship- which he did in 2006. In 2022 he won the World Mixed Curling Championship.
The Kamloops Crown of Curling is an annual bonspiel, or curling tournament, held in October at the Kamloops Curling Club in Kamloops. The purse for the event is CAD $15,000 for the men's event and $11,000 for the women's event.
The Buckingham Curling Club is an historic curling club located in Buckingham, Quebec. It is the only curling club located within the city limits of Gatineau. Despite only having two sheets of ice and small membership, the club has produced many Brier and Hearts representatives in the past, owing to its proximity to strong teams in nearby Ottawa.
The Challenge de Curling de Gatineau is an annual bonspiel, or curling tournament, on the World Curling Tour. It is held annually in late October in the City of Gatineau, Quebec. The men's tournament was started in 2009, while the women's tournament was started in 2011, but discontinued after 2013.

The Challenge de Curling Desjardins, formerly the Challenge Casino de Charlevoix is an annual bonspiel, or curling tournament, that takes place at the Aréna de Clermont and the Club de Curling Nairn in Clermont, Québec. The tournament is held in a triple-knockout format. The tournament, which was sponsored by Casino de Charlevoix until 2021, has been held every year since at least 2003 and was part of the World Curling Tour from 2003 to 2019. This tournament, along with the Challenge Casino Lac Leamy, was one of the few major curling events in Québec. Desjardins Insurance became the title sponsor in 2022.

For the 2012–13 curling season and 2014–15 curling season, the event took place at the Victoria Curling Centre in Victoria, British Columbia, and both the men's and women's events were held in a triple knockout format.

The men's event was held in a triple knockout format, while the women's event was held in a round-robin format. The purse for the men's event was CAD$40,000, of which the winner, Mark Dacey, received CAD$10,000. The purse for the women's event was CAD$11,500, of which the winner, Julie Reddick, received CAD$3,500.

In the men's final, Jay Wakefield defeated Neil Dangerfield with a score of 9–2, while in the women's final, Roberta Kuhn defeated Heather Jensen with a score of 5–3.

In the final, Peter de Cruz of Switzerland defeated Brad Jacobs of Ontario in an extra end with a score of 6–5.

The 2014 M&M Meat Shops Canadian Junior Curling Championships were held from January 18 to 26 at the Queens Place Emera Centre and the Liverpool Curling Club. The winners represented Canada at the 2014 World Junior Curling Championships in Flims, Switzerland.
The 1927 Macdonald Brier Tankard, the Canadian men's national curling championship, was held March 1–3 at the Granite Club in Toronto. This edition of the Brier would be the first, with it also being the first time it was hosted in Ontario, and the first time it was hosted in Toronto's Granite Club.
