History

Vickers Aircraft Company was founded in 2011. Previous to being Vickers Aircraft Company, it had been a custom manufacturer of marine and aviation products, operating as Specialized Routing.

Vickers Aircraft specialises in carbon fibre fabrication, and in-house manufacturing of their goods. [1] Special attention is being made to make an aircraft that is producible and highly manufacturable. [2]

The first public forum discussing the Wave was presented at EAA Airventure 2017. [3] [4]

Products

Vickers Aircraft Company's first aircraft, a two-seat amphibious seaplane, is called The Wave. [5]

The Wave has some unique features unavailable in other similar aircraft, [6] such as a bow thruster and substantially higher horsepower engine. [7] [8] [9]

Vickers Aircraft Company operates from multiple buildings at the Hamilton Airport, in Hamilton, New Zealand. [10]

Facilities include cleanrooms for composite layup and bonding operations, ovens for composite curing, manufacturing equipment (routers, presses), trim rooms, stockrooms, and multiple assembly areas.

LSAs tend to be heavier and more sophisticated than ultralight aircraft, but LSA restrictions on weight and performance separates the category from established GA aircraft. There is no standard worldwide description of an LSA.

ICON A5 Amphibious light-sport aircraft developed by ICON Aircraft

The ICON A5 is an American amphibious light-sport aircraft designed and produced by ICON Aircraft. A concept aircraft was first flown in 2008, and creation of the production tooling began in December 2012. The first production aircraft made its first flight on July 7, 2014, and made its public debut at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh on July 27, 2014. A year later at AirVenture, it was temporarily donated to the youth group Young Eagles, although the first official A5 customer deliveries did not occur until 2016. As of 2019, 100 A5s have been delivered.

The Sadler SV-1 Vampire is a single-seat ultralight sport aircraft developed in the United States in the early 1980s. It is uncharacteristic of ultralight designs in both its layout and its construction. The Vampire is a mid-wing cantilever monoplane of pod-and-boom configuration and twin booms joined by a common horizontal stabilizer. The wings fold for storage and transport, and the undercarriage is of fixed tricycle type. The single engine and pusher propeller are mounted at the rear of the pod that also includes the open cockpit. Construction throughout is of metal.

ICON Aircraft, Inc. is a privately held aircraft manufacturing company headquartered in Vacaville, California, United States. It was founded in 2006 by two Stanford graduates, aviator Kirk Hawkins and product designer Steen Strand, to develop and certify the ICON A5 amphibious light sport aircraft (LSA). The aircraft entered production in 2016. ICON is known for having brought significant excitement and publicity to the LSA industry since the A5's debut in 2008, although legal, financial and developmental issues, as well as a string of early accidents, have slowed company production and growth over the last 5 years.

Seamax M-22 Brazilian light-sport flying boat

The Seamax M-22 is a Brazilian single-engine, amphibious light sport aircraft (LSA) and Fédération Aéronautique Internationale microlight. Originally manufactured by AirMax Construções Aeronáuticas of Jacarepaguá and called the Airmax SeaMax, since 2015 it has been built by Seamax Aircraft of Sao Paulo.

It was introduced at the AERO Friedrichshafen show in 2014. Once in production the aircraft is intended to be supplied complete and ready-to-fly.
