Victor Franklin Banks (born 8 November 1947) [1] is an Anguillan politician. A member of the Anguilla United Front (AUF),he served as Premier from 14 May 2019 [2] [3] until his defeat in the 2020 general election.
The oldest of six siblings,Banks grew up in The Valley. [4] His father died when he was a teenager. His first job was as a teacher at Valley Secondary School,where he worked from 1964 until 1968. He then attended the University of the Virgin Islands,where he obtained a BA in social sciences in 1972. He then attended the New School for Social Research in New York City,where he obtained a master's degree in political science. He started a PhD at the same institution,but left in 1979 at the all but dissertation stage.
A member of the Anguilla National Alliance,he was elected to the House of Assembly in the Valley North constituency in the 1981 elections. Then 33,he became the island's youngest government minister when he was appointed Minister of Social Services. He moved to the Anguilla Democratic Party (ADP) prior to the 1984 elections,in which he lost his seat and place in the cabinet. [1]
In a by-election in 1985 he was elected in the Valley South Constituency for the ADP. [1] He retained the Valley South seat until the 2010 elections. In 1994 he was appointed Minister of Finance and Economic Development,serving until 1999. In 2000 he became Minister of Finance,Economic Development,Investment and Commerce,with Tourism added to the portfolio in 2005. [1] He left the cabinet after losing his seat in 2010.
Banks became Chief Minister (renamed to Premier in 2019) after the AUF won six of the seven elected seats in the House of Assembly in the 2015 elections,in which he also regained the Valley South seat.
Anguilla is a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean. It is one of the most northerly of the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles,lying east of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and directly north of Saint Martin. The territory consists of the main island of Anguilla,approximately 16 miles long by 3 miles (5 km) wide at its widest point,together with a number of much smaller islands and cays with no permanent population. The territory's capital is The Valley. The total land area of the territory is 35 square miles (91 km2),with a population of approximately 15,753 (2021).

Anguilla,the most northerly of the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles,is an internally self-governing overseas territory of the United Kingdom. The United Nations Committee on Decolonization includes Anguilla on the United Nations list of non-self-governing territories. The territory's constitution is Anguilla Constitutional Order 1 April 1982. Executive power is exercised by the Premier and the Executive Council. Legislative power is vested in both the Executive Council and the House of Assembly. The Judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature. Military defence is the responsibility of the United Kingdom.
Dufferin "Duff" Roblin was a Canadian businessman and politician. He served as the 14th premier of Manitoba from 1958 to 1967. Roblin was appointed to the Senate of Canada on the advice of Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. In the government of Brian Mulroney,he served as government leader in the Senate. He was the grandson of Sir Rodmond Roblin,who also served as Manitoba Premier. His ancestor John Roblin served in the Upper Canada assembly.

Omar Ayub Khan is a Pakistani politician who is currently serving as the Leader of the Opposition. He was the last Federal Minister for Economic Affairs under the Prime Ministership of Imran Khan from April 2021 until April 2022. General elections were held in Anguilla on 21 February 2005 to elect the seven elected seats in the House of Assembly. The Anguilla United Front,an alliance of the Anguilla National Alliance and the Anguilla Democratic Party,won the elections retaining four of the elected seats.

Michael Joseph Coteau is a Canadian politician who serves as the Member of Parliament for Don Valley East in the House of Commons of Canada. From 2011 to 2021,he was a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario representing the provincial district of Don Valley East in Toronto. He served in the Cabinet of Ontario under Premier Kathleen Wynne from 2013 to 2018 in several portfolios,including Citizenship and Immigration,Tourism,Culture and Sport and Community and Social Services. After the 2018 Ontario general election,Coteau was one of seven Liberals re-elected,and he subsequently ran in the 2020 Ontario Liberal Party leadership election,placing second with 16.9% of the vote.
General elections were held in Anguilla on 22 April 2015. The result was a victory for the Anguilla United Front alliance,which won six of the seven elected seats in the House of Assembly. The ruling Anguilla United Movement failed to win a seat.
Federal elections were held in the West Indies Federation for the first and only time on 25 March 1958. The result was a victory for the West Indies Federal Labour Party,which won 25 of the 45 seats in the House of Representatives.

A member of the Anguilla Progressive Movement,Kentish-Rogers has served as the Minister for Education and Social Development in the government of Ellis Webster since 2020. She has also represented the constituency of Valley South in the House of Assembly since 2020. Since 2021,she has been a Millennium Fellow at the Atlantic Council in Washington,D.C.

He was elected to the National Assembly of South Africa in May 2014. Between June 2015 and June 2019,he was the Shadow Minister of Economic Development. He resigned from Parliament effective on 31 January 2024. Cardo is a member of the Democratic Alliance.
