Vidya Rao is an Indian Hindustani classical singer and writer. She is popular for her Thumri and Dadra. [1] She wrote a book on the late Naina Devi, Heart to Heart: Remembering Nainaji. Her daughter Aditi Rao Hydari is an actress.

Early life

Vidya Rao was born in Wanaparthy and grew up in Hyderabad. She did her graduation from Madras and later joined the Delhi School of Economics to do M.A. in Sociology. [2]

Career

She worked with Centre for Women's Development Studies as a researcher for five years before quitting to concentrate on music. [2]

She renders poetry of mystics like, Amir Khusro, Kabir etc. [3]

She was set to make her acting debut through Mani Ratnam's Raavanan (2010) as the mother of Aishwarya Rai's character. However, her scenes were cut from the film's final version. [4]

Personal life

She was married to Ehsaan Hydari.[ citation needed ] They have a daughter, Tollywood and Bollywood actress, Aditi Rao Hydari.[ citation needed ]

Made on a budget of 7 crores including promotional costs, the film earned 240 million. The film earned Rs. 64.3 million in first week in domestic box office and Rs. 90 million lifetime. In overseas too it was a winner and earned Rs. 20 million in first week and Rs. 40 million lifetime.

Naina Devi also known as Naina Ripjit Singh, was Indian vocalist of Hindustani classical music, most known for her thumri renditions, though she also sang dadra and ghazals. She was a music producer at All India Radio and later with Doordarshan. She started her musical training under Girja Shankar Chakravarty in her teens, later restarted it with Ustad Mushtaq Hussain Khan of Rampur-Sahaswan gharana and Rasoolan Bai of Benaras gharana, in the 1950s. Born in an aristocratic family in Kolkata, she was married into the royal family of Kapurthala State at age 16, and was started singing in concerts only after her husband died in 1949, and she moved to Delhi.

Fitoor is a 2016 Indian Hindi-language musical romantic drama directed by Abhishek Kapoor, produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur, and written by Kapoor and Supratik Sen based on Charles Dickens' 1861 novel Great Expectations. Har Kisi Ko is a Hindi song from the 2013 Hindi film, Boss. Re-created by Chirantan Bhatt, the song is sung by Nikhil D'Souza, with lyrics by Manoj Yadav. Kaatru Veliyidai is a 2017 Indian Tamil-language romantic war film, produced, written and directed by Mani Ratnam. Made under the Madras Talkies banner, it features music composed by A. R. Rahman, cinematography by Ravi Varman and editing by A. Sreekar Prasad. The film stars Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari, with Lalitha, Rukmini Vijayakumar, Delhi Ganesh and RJ Balaji and Shraddha Srinath playing other pivotal roles. Set against the backdrop of the Kargil War of 1999, the film narrates the story of an Indian Air Force pilot who recalls his romance with a doctor in the lead up to the war, while being kept as a prisoner of war at a jail in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Kaatru Veliyidai marked Aditi's comeback and Shraddha's debut in Tamil cinema.

The film stars Irrfan Khan, Kirti Kulhari, Arunoday Singh and Divya Dutta in lead roles and is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Apurba Sengupta and Rohit KaduDeshmukh under the banner of T-Series Films and RDP Motion Pictures. Blackmail depicts the life of a married-man in his late 30s stuck in a full day-time job and unexciting life but things turn after he finds that his wife is having an extramarital affair. The film had its theatrical release in India on 6 April 2018 and turned out to be a Sleeper Hit at the box office.

<i>Hey Sinamika</i> 2022 film directed by Brinda

Hey! Sinamika is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film directed by Brinda, in her directorial debut, and produced by Jio Studios and Global One Studios. It is an adaptation of the 2008 Argentine film A Boyfriend for My Wife, but has the roles switched. The film stars Dulquer Salmaan, Aditi Rao Hydari as the husband and wife respectively and Kajal Aggarwal as a relationship counselor and Nakshatra Nagesh as a radio jockey. It follows Yaazhan, a software engineer, whose wife, Mouna, tries to get rid of as she claims him to be annoying.
