The Vijay Awards are presented by the Tamil television channel STAR Vijay to honour excellence in Tamil cinema. It has been given annually since 2006, with the latest—the 10th edition—of the award-giving ceremony having been held in May 2018. The awards are decided by a jury, consisting of noted film-makers, critics and technicians, while winners in a separate category named "Favourite awards" are chosen by public voting. The awards have been sponsored by Reliance Mobile, Univercell and Close Up. Owing to controversies about indulging personal wishes and a decrease in public interest, it was cancelled for two years.

The 8th South Indian International Movie Awards is an awards event to be held at Qatar on August 15th and 16th, 2019. SIIMA 2019 was recognized the best films and performances from the past year in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada films released in 2018, along with special honors for lifetime contributions and a few special awards. Zee Cine Awards Tamil are presented by the Tamil television channel Zee Tamil to honour the excellence talent actor, actress and celebrities in Tamil cinema. It has been started with huge response in 2020, The ceremony telecasted from Saturday 4 January 2020. Zee Tamil is gearing up for its first ever Cine Awards. The awards were decided by Zee Network with Jury members, veterans and passionate members of the industry – Suhasini Maniratnam, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Karu Pazhaniappan, Bharath Bala and Baradwaj Rangan.
