Vila de Prado is a Portuguese civil parish located in the Vila Verde municipality that is located in the Braga district. [1] [2] Its current president is Albano Bastos.
The location used to be called Prado (Santa Maria) until 1991 when the village status was granted to it, making its name be Vila de Prado. [3]
Due to its strategic location it constituted an important populational focus during Roman domination. Its clayey nature might have also contributed to such, as at the time, the ceramic industry was proliferating. [4]
Throughout the course of the tenth century Prado was dominated by Portuguese counts. During the afonsine inquiries of 1220, Prado contained 16 parishes. In 1260 D.Afonso III granted foral to it. Prior to the Prado parish was one called Santiago de Francelos that is referenced in documents from 1445 but that by 1528 had already been assimilated by Prado. In 1510 another fora would be granted to it, this time by D.Manuel. [4]
Studies of the Maria da Fonte revolt allude to an outbreak of a rebellion in Vila de Prado on the 15th of April 1846. It is thought that it was due to this revolt that on the 24th of October 1855 the municipality of Prado was abolished together with the Penela, Vila Chã and Pico de Regalados municipalities. After this Prado became integrated into the new Vila Verde municipality with its parishes being distributed between the Vila Verde, Barcelos and Braga municipalities. By initiative of deputies Alberto Cerqueira de Oliveira and Amândio Santa Cruz Domingos Basto Oliveira, Prado regained its Vila status on the 20th of June 1991. [4]

Chaves is a city and a municipality in the north of Portugal. It is 10 km south of the Spanish border and 22 km south of Verín (Spain). The population of the entire municipality in 2011 was 41,243, in an area of 591.23 km2. The municipality is the second most populous of the district of Vila Real. With origins in the Roman civitas Aquæ Flaviæ, Chaves has developed into a regional center. The urban area or city proper has 17,535 residents (2001).
Braga is a city and a municipality, capital of the northwestern Portuguese district of Braga and of the historical and cultural Minho Province. Braga Municipality had a resident population of 193,333 inhabitants, representing the seventh largest municipality in Portugal by population. Its area is 183.40 km2. Its agglomerated urban area extends to the Cávado River and is the third most populated urban area in Portugal, behind Lisbon and Porto Metropolitan Areas.
Viana do Castelo is a municipality and seat of the district of Viana do Castelo in the Norte Region of Portugal. The population in 2011 was 88,725, in an area of 319.02 km². The urbanized area of the municipality, comprising the city, has a population of approximately 36,148 inhabitants, although the extended densely populated region reaches surrounding municipalities like Caminha and Ponte de Lima with a population above 150,000 inhabitants. Camarate is a former civil parish in the municipality of Loures, Lisbon District, Portugal. In 2013, the parish merged into the new parish Camarate, Unhos e Apelação. With a population of 23,000 inhabitants in 2001, the parish of Camarate extends into an area of 5.52 km².
Vila do Conde is a municipality in the Norte Region of Portugal. The population in 2011 was 79,533, in an area of 149.03 km². The urbanized area of Vila do Conde, which includes the parishes of Vila do Conde, Azurara and Árvore, represent 36,137 inhabitants. Vila do Conde is interlinked to the north with Póvoa de Varzim, forming a single urban agglomeration which is a part of the Porto Metropolitan Area. The town is on the Portuguese Way of the Camino de Santiago.

The municipality is located bordering the municipality of Cabeceiras de Basto to the north, Mondim de Basto to the east, Amarante to the south, Felgueiras to the southeast and Fafe to the west.
Agadão is a former civil parish located in Águeda Municipality, Portugal. In 2013 it was merged into the new parish Belazaima do Chão, Castanheira do Vouga e Agadão. Its population was less than 500 inhabitants at the 2001 census, in an area of 35.34 km2.
