Ville Aaltonen (born 17 May 1979 [1] ) is a Finnish bandy player. He is considered an all-rounder but is usually used offensively or in the attacking midfield.
Until 2001, Aaltonen played for his hometown club Porin Narukerä, with whom he became Finnish champion in 1999. It was also the first championship for the club, which was founded in 1965. In 2001 he moved to Sweden to Ljusdals BK. The move to Bollnäs GoIF followed in 2004. [2] With Bollnäs he won the World Championship in 2005. In 2007/08 he played one season in Russia in Krasnogorsk with Zorki and was Russian runner-up there. After the season he returned to Bollnäs. In 2010 and 2011 he reached the final of the Swedish bandy championship with the club, with Bollnäs losing both times. [3]
Aaltonen has played for the Finnish national team since the winter of 2001/02. In 2004 he became world champion with a 5–4 win after Finland's golden goal against Sweden. He has already played over 100 international matches for the national team.
In 2009 and 2010 he received the award of the best bandy player in Finland.
Bollnäs GoIF/BF, "Giffarna", is a bandy club founded in 1895 from Bollnäs in Sweden who play at Sävstaås Idrottspark. The club won the World Cup in 2005. and 2019.
Edsbyns IF, is a bandy team from Edsbyn in Ovanåker Municipality in Sweden founded on 6 June 1909. The bandy section of the club was founded as late as in 1925 was formally made a club of its own on 28 June 2000.
The 2003 Bandy World Championship was a competition for bandy playing nations for men. The championship was played in Arkhangelsk, Russia from 24–30 March 2003. Sweden won the championship. There were 9 countries participating in the 2003 championships: Finland, Kazakhstan, Norway, Russia, Sweden and Belarus, Estonia, the Netherlands and the United States.
Narukerä is a Finnish bandy team based in the town of Pori in the Satakunta region of Finland. The 1965 established team has won two Finnish bandy championships, in 1999 and 2023, but has got 13 medals in total, most recently bronze in 2022. Narukerä plays in the top-tier league of Finland, Bandyliiga. Narukerä plays its home games on the Karhupaana in the Isomäki district of Pori.

Sami Laakkonen is a Finnish former bandy player who played as a forward. Laakkonen was brought up by WP 35 but moved abroad to enhance his career. He played for the Finnish national bandy team, scoring the decisive goal in the final of the 2004 World Championship. At the 2016 World Championship, he made his last appearance for the national team. After the 2018–19 season, he also retired at club level.
Sergey Gennadyevich Obukhov is a Russian professional bandy player from Kirov, who in the 2018-19 season captained Dynamo-Kazan. He has scored more goals than any other Russian player. Obukhov has played many games for the Russian national bandy team and was top scorer at the 2005 and 2007 Bandy World Championship. Obukhov has been an important member of both club and country. In 2007 he won the Bandy World Cup, Champions Cup, Russian League Cup with Dynamo Moscow and the Bandy World Championship with Russia.
Michael Carlsson is a Swedish bandy manager and former player (forward) and who currently manages Västerås SK. Carlsson was a youth product of Västerås SK and was spotted where he has stayed for his career apart from one year when he played in Russia for Vodnik. Carlsson has played for the Swedish national bandy team. In April 2019, he was appointed coach for the Swedish men's national team.
Johan Östblom is a Swedish bandy player who plays for the AIK. He primarily plays as a midfielder but can also play as a defender. In 2014, Östblom became the third player to win three Swedish championships with three clubs.

Christoffer Edlund is a Swedish bandy player who currently plays for Villa Lidköping BK as a midfielder or forward.
The Elitserien is since the 2007–08 season the highest bandy league in Sweden. It consists of 14 teams. The season ends with one final game in March. The final was held at Studenternas IP in Uppsala from 1991 until 2012. In 2013 and 2014 the final was played at Friends Arena in Solna, and from 2015 to 2017 it was played at the Tele2 Arena. The final returned to 4,600-capacity Studenternas IP indoor stadium in 2018.

The Women's Bandy World Championships is an international sports tournament for women and the premier international competition for women's bandy among bandy-playing nations. The tournament is administrated by the Federation of International Bandy.
