Nakiyingi Veronica Lugya (born June 28, 1993), professionally known as Vinka, is a Ugandan Musical artist, dancer, singer and songwriter. She is signed under Swangz Avenue and Sony Music entertainment. [1] [2] [3] [4]
Vinka born in 1993 to Mr and Mrs Lugya grew up in Kazo with her dad and in primary 5, she went to live at her mum's place in Bweyogerere. [2]
She went to Hormisdalen primary school in Kamwokya for her private school education. She thereafter joined Rubaga girls' school for her O' and A' level education. [2]
She then joined Makerere University and graduated with bachelor's degree in Tourism and Hospitality in 2017. [5] [6]
Vinka started out as a professional dancer and worked with Jackie Chandiru, Sera, Maurice Kirya, Cindy Sanyu among others. [2]
She later got an artist management job at Swangz Avenue, where she used to be Irene Ntale's manager. [7]
While at Swangz Avenue, Vinka did voice overs for artists as well as radio Jiggles and in 2015, her boss approached her and inquired if she could give music a try. She took on the challenge and started recording as an artist. In 2016, she left artist management to concentrate on music. [3] [2]
Her first single was "level" followed by "stylo" where she featured Irene Ntale, Towards the end of 2017, Vinka released her song "Malaika" which established her as a serious artist. [8] [9]
Since then, she has gone on to release more songs like "Chips na Ketchup", "Overdose" ft Voltage music, "Love panic", "By the way", "Omukwano Guno", "Sure", "Oluyimba Lwomwaka", "Bebe" ft Inna among others. In 2019, Vinka signed a distribution deal with Sony Music entertainment. [3] [8] [10]
Also in 2019 too, she recorded a song "Bebe" with Romanian singer Inna that was digitally released by Global records. [11]
Vinka kicked a fan who tried to touch her genitalia while performing in South Sudan. [12] [13]
Vinka gave birth to a baby girl on Jan 10th 2021 with Fiancée Witta Nelson, a businessman and politician from Isingiro District. [14] [15] [16] [17]
Bebe Cool is a reggae and ragga musician from Uganda. He started his career around 1997 in Nairobi, Kenya, but moved back to his native country a few years later. Bebe Cool was one of the first artists affiliated with Ogopa DJs, a production house and record label in Kenya.
Radio & Weasel was a Ugandan music Duo that performed under their record label Goodlyfe Crew a Ugandan music group with lead performers being singers Moses Radio and [Weasel Manizo]. Moses Radio provided smooth RnB vocals while Weasel's contribution is a fusion of reggae, ragga and dancehall vibes. Because of their prominence, Moses Radio and Weasel formed their own duo known as Radio and Weasel. The Lead singer Moses and Vocalist Radio died on 1 February 2018 from brain injuries after an assault by a bouncer at a club in Entebbe. Radio's attacker threw him down about 3 metres (9.8 ft) onto a concrete pavement which resulted in massive intracranial hemorrhage. Radio and Weasel also formed The Goodlyfe Crew. The crew saw many changes in its set-up but at various times included Chagga, Lenin Briton, and Lawrence. Many of its members had their own solo projects and collaborations.
Swangz Avenue is a Ugandan record label. It was established in 2008 by Ugandan musician and record producer Benon Mugumya.

Sheebah Karungi, professionally known as Queen Karma and Sheebah, is a Ugandan musician, dancer, actress and feminist activist. She debuted her acting career in Queen of Katwe as Shakira.
