Virginia's 46th House of Delegates district elects one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. District 46 is composed of part of Alexandria, Virginia. It is represented by Democrat Charniele Herring.
In the 2015 Virginia House of Delegates election Herring defeated Republican Sean Lenehan and Libertarian Andy Bakker. [1] [2] Herring ran unopposed in 2017.

Jerrauld C. C. "Jay" Jones is an American politician and attorney serving as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from the 89th district. In July 2020, Jones announced his candidacy for attorney general of Virginia in the 2021 election. Jones lost the Democratic primary to incumbent Mark Herring, despite receiving an endorsement from Governor Ralph Northam. In December 2021, Jones announced his resignation to focus on family.

All 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates were up for election. It resulted in Democrats gaining 6 seats in the House of Delegates, and gaining control of both chambers of the General Assembly, marking the first time that Democrats held control of both legislative and executive branches in Virginia since 1993.

Redella S. "Del" Pepper is an American politician who served on the Alexandria, Virginia city council from 1985 until the beginning of 2022 and vice mayor 1996 to 1997 and 2003 to 2009. She announced in 2020 that she was not running for reelection in 2021 and was the oldest and longest-serving member of the city council when she left office after 36 years.
