Virginia's 5th House of Delegates district is one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. District 5 covers all of Grayson County, portions of Smyth County and Washington County, as well as the cities of Bristol and Galax, Virginia. The district is represented by Republican Delegate Israel O'Quinn.

The Virginia General Assembly is the legislative body of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the oldest continuous law-making body in the New World, established on July 30, 1619. Marvin Kirkland "Kirk" Cox is an American politician and retired educator. A Republican, he has served in the Virginia House of Delegates since 1990, representing the 66th District, made up of the southern Richmond suburb of Colonial Heights and nearby parts of Chesterfield County. He also served as the 55th Speaker of the House of Delegates. Previously, Cox had been House Majority Leader, and House Majority Whip. In October 2020, Cox filed papers to establish a campaign committee preparing to run for the Republican nomination for Governor of Virginia, but said he would not formally announce until after the November presidential election. On November 17, 2020, Cox formally launched his campaign for Governor.

James William Morefield is an American politician of the Republican Party. Since January 2010 Morefield has been a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, representing the 3rd district in the southwestern part of the state.
