Virtual Learning Academy Charter School (VLACS) is a nonprofit virtual charter school in Exeter, New Hampshire, the only public online high school in the state. [1] It offers full-time and part-time admissions. The school was founded in 2007 by Steve Kossakoski, who holds a doctorate in education administration from University of New Hampshire. [2] [3] VLACS is licensed by the New Hampshire Board of Education, making it free to students under 21 living in the state. Students living in other states, however, must pay to use it. [2] [4] In 2010, they had 13,432 students enrolled in High and Middle School courses. [5]

The Academy for Science and Design (ASD) is a Blue-ribbon public charter school located in Nashua, New Hampshire, United States. It has been consistently ranked as among the top high schools in the United States, as well as the #1 school in the state of New Hampshire. ASD concentrates on providing a STEM-based education. The academy is tuition-free for New Hampshire residents. However, the limited space available for new students makes a lottery system necessary. All applicants who are eligible for the lottery are drawn and this order is used to create the waiting list each year. The school is physically located in Nashua, but is a New Hampshire public school and all New Hampshire students are eligible to apply for enrollment. Nashua students are not given priority over students from any other New Hampshire towns.
The Carsey School of Public Policy at the University of New Hampshire is located in Huddleston Hall, on the campus of the University of New Hampshire in Durham. Carsey offers masters degrees in Public Policy (MPP), Public Administration (MPA) and Community Development (MCD). Mindquest (1995–2003) was the first online public high school in the United States. It operated through the Bloomington Public Schools in Bloomington, Minnesota, and was created in 1995 by Kevin Byrne within the South Hennepin Adult Programs in Education (SHAPE), a program started in 1978 for adult and alternative school within the Bloomington Public Schools. Mindquest operated until the end of 2003, when the Bloomington Schools closed it in favor of a regional distance learning program.
