Visceral Disgorge is an American death metal band from Baltimore that was formed in 2007.
Visceral Disgorge originally formed in early 2007, coming from the remains of a former death metal band known as Eaten Alive. Wanting to go in a heavier direction than their previous band, Travis Werner and Eric Vieraitis began forming the foundation of what would later be known as Visceral Disgorge. In late 2009, Visceral Disgorge recorded a single demo track which received the attention that resulted in the signing of a record deal with Japanese death metal label Amputated Vein Records. [1] Soon after, they prepared for the worldwide release in 2011 of their debut album Ingesting Putridity, [2] which showcased the graphic illustrations of Japanese artist Toshihiro Egawa for the album artwork. [3] The album received positive feedback from several sources. [4] [5]
Shortly following the release of Ingesting Putridity, Visceral Disgorge began making appearances at metal festivals throughout the United States and abroad. These festivals included Maryland Deathfest (IX, XIV), [6] Netherlands Deathfest, Frankfurt Deathfest, Las Vegas Deathfest IV, [7] Puerto Rico Metal Demolition Fest, [8] New York Deathfest, New Jersey Deathfest, Philadelphia Infest, Delaware Deathfest, Brutality reigns fest, Louisvillie Death Fest, and DeLand Metal Fest [9] among other festivals.
In 2014, guitarist Steve Rosenzweig died [10] forcing the band to find the replacement Charlie Marvel. The band released a memorial music video in his memory for their song "Necrocoprophagia". [11]
The band performs a style of brutal death metal which uses frequent slam riffs and guttural growl vocals. They use down tuned guitars often incorporating fast and complex guitar riffing as well as slam riffs and breakdowns, alongside an onslaught of blast beats and double bass drumming, as well as a sophisticated and technical sense of song writing. The band's lyrics and imagery primarily focus on gratuitous graphic violence which is highly influenced by various works of horror fiction, science fiction, and horror films. [12] [13] [14]

Kirk Lee Hammett is an American musician who has been the lead guitarist of heavy metal band Metallica since 1983. Prior to joining Metallica, he co-formed the thrash metal band Exodus in 1979. In 2003, Hammett, along with bandmate James Hetfield, was ranked 23rd on Rolling Stone's list of Greatest Guitarists of All Time. Slayer's final lineup consisted of King, Araya, drummer Paul Bostaph and guitarist Gary Holt, who initially joined as a touring member in 2011 before joining the band permanently after Hanneman's death in 2013. Dying Fetus is an American death metal band from Greater Upper Marlboro, Maryland, formed in 1991. Various lineup changes throughout the years have left John Gallagher as the sole remaining original member, as well as the band's driving force. According to Gallagher, the band name was chosen while the members were young and was intended to be offensive. To date, Dying Fetus has released nine studio albums.
Carcass are an English extreme metal band from Liverpool, formed in 1985. The band have gone through several line-up changes, leaving guitarist Bill Steer and bassist-vocalist Jeff Walker as the only constant members. They broke up in 1996, but reformed in 2007 without original drummer Ken Owen, for health reasons. To date, the band have released seven studio albums, two compilation albums, four EPs, two demo albums, one video album, and six music videos.

They founded their own label, Unique Leader Records, which has since become home to a number of other death metal bands from around the world. Deeds of Flesh have released nine studio albums, their most recent being Nucleus which was released in 2020.
