Ideato North is a Local Government Area in Imo State,Nigeria. It was created in 1976 as Ideato Local Government,but was later divided into both Ideato North,and Ideato South. Communities in ideato north has Its administrative headquarters in Urualla. Other towns in this LGA include:Umualaoma,Obodoukwu,Akokwa,Uzii,Osina,Akpulu,Arondiizuogu and Isiokpo.
Ifeanyi Godwin Ararume is a Nigerian politician who was appointed as the country's minister of Petroleum Resources and as the Chairman,Board of Management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited,in the wake of implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA). He was the senator who represented Imo North at the 9th Nigerian National Assembly. He was elected Senator for the Imo North (Okigwe) constituency of Imo State,Nigeria at the start of the Nigerian Fourth Republic,running on the People's Democratic Party (PDP) platform. He took office on 29 May 1999. He was re-elected in April 2003. Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha is a Nigerian politician of Igbo extraction,from Imo State. He is the senator representing Imo West senatorial district at the 9th Nigerian Senate. From 2011 to 2019 he served as Governor of Imo State.
Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu known as Sam Daddy is a Nigerian business executive and politician,and served as the national secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from November 2021,until his removal from Office by the Court of Appeal Nigeria on 20th December 2024,which affirmed his replacement with Rt. Hon. S. K. E. Udeh-Okoye as the National Secretary of PDP. He served as a senator in the 8th Nigeria National Assembly representing Imo East Senatorial District from 2015 to 2019 and sponsored the bill for the establishment of South East Development Commission passed by the 8th Senate but was vetoed by President Buhari. Anyanwu ran unsuccessfully for the PDP governorship nomination for the 2019 Imo State gubernatorial election. Anayanwu is the founder of several businesses and non-profit organizations including New View Engineering Nig. Ltd,Sonada Oil Ltd and president of So Others May Eat (S.O.M.E) Foundation –a charity organization focused on helping less privileged.

The 2019 Osun State House of Assembly election was held on March 9,2019,to elect members of the Osun State House of Assembly in Nigeria. All the 26 seats were up for election in the Osun State House of Assembly.

The 2023 Nigerian presidential election in Imo State will be held on 25 February 2023 as part of the nationwide 2023 Nigerian presidential election to elect the president and vice president of Nigeria. Other federal elections,including elections to the House of Representatives and the Senate,will also be held on the same date while state elections will be held two weeks afterward on 11 March.

Chike Olemgbe is a Nigerian politician currently serving as the speaker of the 10th Imo State House Assembly since June 2023. A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC),Olemgbe is representing Ihitte/Uboma State Constituency in the state house of assembly. He is a first term member of the house. Olemgbe was nominated for the speakership position by Vitalis Azodo of the APC representing Ideato South constituency and seconded by Ugochukwu Obodo also of the APC representing Owerri Municipal constituency. He was unanimously elected to the speakership.
