Volleyball competition at the 2024 Bolivarian Youth Games in Sucre, Bolivia was held from 10 to 13 April 2024 at Coliseo Jorge Revilla Aldana. [1] [2]

Contents

The girls' tournament was the only event scheduled to be contested. A total of 40 athletes (10 per team) competed in the event. Athletes had to be born between 1 January 2005 and 31 December 2008 to be eligible (ages 16 to 19). [3]

Chile won the girls' tournament and claimed the only gold medal of the volleyball event.

Participating nations

A total of 4 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) registered teams for the volleyball competition. [4] Each NOC was able to enter a maximum of 10 volleyball players in their team squad. [3] [5]

The girls' tournament consisted of a single group of 4 teams in which each team played once against the other 3 teams in the group on a single round-robin basis. The top two teams advanced to play the gold medal match, and the third and fourth placed teams played for the bronze medal.

The tournament was contested by U20 national teams.

Chile won the gold medal with a 3–0 win over Peru in the final. Hosts Bolivia defeated Venezuela 3–1 to win the bronze medal. [9]

Previously, Peru hosted the 1947–48 Bolivarian Games and the 1997 Bolivarian Games. Since 2011, Trujillo was preparing the sport buildings for the Bolivarian Games.

The 2012 Bolivarian Beach Games, officially the I Bolivarian Beach Games, is an international multi-sport event that is being held from November 1–11, 2012 in Lima, Peru. With approximately 1,500 athletes from 10 nations participating in 15 sports. The Bolivarian Beach are organized by the ODEBO, the Bolivarian Sports Organization.

The men's tournament of volleyball at the 2013 Bolivarian Games in Trujillo, Peru was held between November 17 and November 21 at the Coliseo Gran Chimu.

The 2024 Bolivarian Youth Games, officially known as the I Bolivarian Youth Games "Sucre 2024" and simply known as Sucre 2024, will be the first edition of the Bolivarian Youth Games, a regional multi-sport event for athletes of up to 19 years old, organized by the Organización Deportiva Bolivariana (ODEBO). Originally scheduled to be held in Sucre, Bolivia from 17 April to 1 May 2020, the inaugural edition of the Bolivarian Youth Games underwent several postponements until it was definitively scheduled to be held from 4 to 14 April 2024.

Handball competition of the 2024 Bolivarian Youth Games consisted only of the women's tournament and was held from 5 to 7 April at the Coliseo Polideportivo Garcilazo, Sucre, Bolivia. The champion of the tournament was the national team of Chile.
