He is recognized for pioneering the "jecha trap" sound, a fusion of drill music with the Shona language, and is noted for his socially conscious lyrics that reflect the realities of Zimbabwean youth.
Voltz JT was born in Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe. He attended Sanyati Baptist High School and later pursued a degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Zimbabwe, graduating in December 2022. [1]

He gained national attention with his track "These Days," which went viral for its commentary on the hardships faced by Zimbabwean youth. This was followed by "Nyaya Dzemari," addressing how money can cause rifts between friends. His collaboration with Holy Ten on "How Far" further solidified his presence in the Zimbabwean hip hop scene. [3]

Voltz JT's musical style, termed "jecha trap," combines elements of drill music with the Shona language, creating a unique sound that resonates with Zimbabwean audiences. His lyrics often address social issues, personal experiences, and the challenges faced by the youth. He cites influences such as Pop Smoke, Drake, Lil Durk, and local artists like Scrip Mula. [6]
Voltz JT maintains a private personal life. While there were rumors linking him romantically to Kimberly Richards, she eventually married fellow artist Holy Ten. [7]
