Vytautas V. Landsbergis (born 25 May 1962 in Vilnius): Lithuanian writer, journalist, director of films and theater, children's book writer, son of Vytautas Landsbergis and father of Gabrielius Landsbergis. [1]

Life

He studied at the Vilnius Antanas Vienuolis School. Studied at Vilnius University in the philology faculty, finished Lithuanian studies. Studied directing at the Tbilisi Theater Institute and Jonas Mekas' Anthology Archive in New York. In 1996 V. V. Landsbergis studied theater directing in Leeds, UK the young European director's school.

Unė Babickaitė-Graičiūnienė was a Lithuanian actress and theater director. During World War I, she attended the Saint Petersburg Conservatory. After the war, she staged several plays in Lithuania, but they were not well received by the critics. She then moved to the United States and appeared in several silent films. In 1924, she married Vytautas Andrius Graičiūnas. With his financial support, she organized theater plays in Paris and London. Babickaitė returned to Lithuania in 1936. After World War II, she was sentenced to five years in a Gulag.

Sigitas Geda was a Lithuanian poet, translator, playwright, essayist, critic and a member of the Lithuanian independence movement, Sąjūdis, and of the Lithuanian parliament, Seimas.

Parliamentary elections were held in Lithuania on 9 and 23 October 2016 to elect the 141 members of the Seimas. 71 were elected in single-member constituencies using the two-round system, and the remaining 70 in a single nationwide constituency using proportional representation. America in the Bathhouse is a three-act comedy by Keturakis. The play was first published in 1895. It became the first Lithuanian-language play performed in public in present-day Lithuania when a group of Lithuanian activists staged it on 20 August 1899 in Palanga. The play depicts an episode from the everyday life of the Lithuanian village – a resourceful man swindles money from a naive woman and escapes to the United States. Due to its relevant plot, small cast, and simple decorations, the play was very popular with the Lithuanian amateur theater. It became one of the most popular and successful Lithuanian comedies of all time and continues to be performed by various troupes.

The COVID-19 pandemic in Lithuania was a part of the ongoing worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. The virus was confirmed to have reached Lithuania in February 2020. On 18 March 2020, the first domestic case was confirmed, the first infected being an immediate family member of a known case. The first cases of community spread were found in the country on 19 March and the first related death occurred on 20 March 2020.

Mikas Petrauskas (1873–1937) was a Lithuanian composer and choirmaster best known as the author of the first Lithuanian opera Birutė (1906). He was an elder brother of the singer Kipras Petrauskas.

The Šatrija art circle was a Lithuanian art society focused primarily on literature. It was established in 1926 by various students belonging to the Ateitis movement (ateitininkai). Its component members included some of the most notable intellectuals of Lithuanian literature. It was also contemporary to other movements like the Žemininkai and Trečiafrontininkai.
