The Haifa University School of Design, established following a merger between the Neri Bloomfield School of Design and Education, formerly known as WIZO Haifa, and the University of Haifa. Prior to the merger, the academic center served as a college for training designers, integrating education studies into its programs.
The School of Design is located on the Campus Hamoshava in the German Colony of Haifa.

The academy was founded in 1971 by the international WIZO organization to train professional artists and art teachers. Initially, the academy shared a building with the WIZO High School of Art in the neighbourhood of Upper Hadar. In 2004 the academy moved down to a refurbished modern building in the German Colony. In 2024 it was merged into the Univeristy of Haifa.
The academy has six departments in the design professions - Architecture, Graphic design, Photography and Film and Fashion design. The design studies are combined with getting a diploma in education, and the academy is thus destined to qualify the students to become teachers in the post-primary schools in the fields of design and art.
The building that houses the academy today, formerly a youth centre owned by the city, was renovated by architects Yoram Poper and Esti & Eli Hirsch (E. E. Hirsch Architects) together with Galit Rmeo and Luciano Santandreu, winners of the design competition. [2] The entrance floor serves as a gallery to alternating exhibitions of the students and artists. The building's interior was designed in a modern and dynamic style whereas its exterior blends with the character of other old structures in the German Colony.

Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design is a public college of design and art located in Jerusalem. Established in 1906 by Jewish painter and sculptor Boris Schatz, Bezalel is Israel's oldest institution of higher education and is considered the most prestigious art school in the country. It is named for the Biblical figure Bezalel, son of Uri, who was appointed by Moses to oversee the design and construction of the Tabernacle. The art created by Bezalel's students and professors in the early 1900s is considered the springboard for Israeli visual arts in the 20th century.
The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is a university located in Weimar, Germany, and specializes in the artistic and technical fields. Established in 1860 as the Great Ducal Saxon Art School, it gained collegiate status on 3 June 1910. The University of Haifa is a public research university located on Mount Carmel in Haifa, Israel. Avraham Eilat is an Israeli artist, educator and curator. He graduated from the Hebrew Gimnasium Herzliya in Tel Aviv, and was enrolled in Hashomer Hatzair youth movement for nine years starting at age 9. After military service in 1960 he joined in Kibbutz Shamir, situated on the western slopes of the Golan Heights in the Upper Galilee, where he was a member until 1978. During his first years in the kibbutz, Eilat was a shepherd side-by-side with his kibbutz adopting father the painter Moshe Cagan. Close contact with nature and its phenomenon and the features of local landscape deeply influenced his way of thinking and established the themes appearing along all his career in his art. The contrast between man-made geometrical shapes of fish ponds and the free flowing of the flora and typical hilly landscape of the Hula Valley area, crystallized his visual language and determined its formal and thematic foundations. Avraham Eilat employs skillfully various means of expression: drawing and painting, etching, photography, sculpture, installation, and often a combination of more than one. Using those means enriches his basic statement and makes it complex and multi-layered. Avraham Eilat lives in Ein Hod Artists Village, Israel, with his spouse Margol Guttman, works in his studio in Pyramida Center of Contemporary Art, Wadi Salib, Haifa, and in his studio in Ein Hod.
