The album is the first on which the company is named WWE, after it was renamed from World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in May 2002. The album was a commercial success, charting at number 13 on the US Billboard 200.

I Fight Dragons is an American chiptune-based rock band from Chicago. Their music is a combination of rock with chiptune, featuring electronic sounds made using Nintendo Game Boys and Nintendo Entertainment Systems, a genre also known as Nintendocore. To date they have released four full-length albums: 2011's KABOOM!, which came out on Photo Finish / Atlantic Records, 2014's The Near Future, which they self-released after raising over $100,000 on Kickstarter through their "Project Atma" project, 2019's Canon Eyes, and 2021's Side Quests: B-Sides and Rarities. They have also released two EPs, 2009's Cool Is Just a Number and 2010's Welcome to the Breakdown. They have toured the US with MC Chris and Whole Wheat Bread in 2009, 3OH!3, Cobra Starship, and Travie McCoy in 2010, The Protomen in 2011, and they were on the entire 2012 and 2014 Vans Warped Tours. They went on their first national headlining tour, "The War of Cyborg Liberation Tour", with openers MC Lars and Skyfox in 2012. WWE: Uncaged II is a compilation album of unreleased professional wrestling entrance theme songs which was released by WWE on March 21, 2017, on online music stores. The album was originally scheduled to be released on March 17, 2017, but was delayed. The album features multiple tracks that were not available to the general public before the release of the album, track 10 "Danger in the Jungle" with Rainforest intro was originally used for The Headshrinkers, the version that Haku and Faces of Fear used was remixed with drums in WCW.

Canadian record label Monstercat released it on 3 February 2014. The song was originally released as part of the compilation album Monstercat 016 – Expedition, released 26 February 2014. It was later featured as part of Monstercat's Best of 2014 compilation album, released on 26 January 2015.

Hit Row was an American professional wrestling stable consisting of Isaiah "Swerve" Scott, Ashante "Thee" Adonis, Top Dolla, and manager B-Fab. They performed in WWE on the NXT and SmackDown brands. After their release from WWE in November 2021, they have worked the independent circuit under the name The HitMakerZ. In August 2022, the stable returned to WWE without Scott. Top Dolla was released from the group in September 2023 due to roster cuts. In February 2024, B-Fab aligned herself with Bobby Lashley's new stable The Pride, and Ashante was announced to be forming a new tag team with Cedric Alexander, privately disbanding Hit Row.

The project was created by Ashley Warren and features the work of over 100 writers, illustrators, and editors.

The album includes several tracks that were previously unreleased to the public, with tracks 15 and 16 featuring acoustic versions of Randy Orton's and Batista's theme songs.
