The Awarau River, usually known as Larry's Creek is located within the South Island of New Zealand. The river is about 27 kilometres (17 mi) long and runs northwest from its headwaters in the Victoria Range to its confluence with the Inangahua River north of Reefton. It also drains part of the Brunner Range and there was a track along that range linking to Lyell by 1901, though none existed in 1874. A track also ran south over Kirwan Hill to the Montgomerie River.
Rangitata Island was a long lens-shaped island in the delta of the braided Rangitata River in Canterbury, New Zealand, approximately halfway between Timaru and Ashburton, New Zealand. The island was approximately 17 kilometres (11 mi) long and about 5 kilometres (3 mi) wide at its widest. Low lying, the area is mostly fertile farmland.
South Canterbury is the area of the Canterbury Region of the South Island of New Zealand bounded by the Rangitata River in the north and the Waitaki River to the south. The Pacific Ocean and ridge of the Southern Alps form natural boundaries to the east and west respectively. Though the exact boundaries of the region have never been formalised, the term is used for a variety of government agencies and other entities. It is one of four traditional sub-regions of Canterbury, along with Mid Canterbury, North Canterbury, and Christchurch city.
Lynnford is a lightly populated locality in the Mid-Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island. It is situated between Hinds and Eiffelton on the banks of the Hinds River, which reaches the Pacific Ocean not far to the southeast, between the nearby localities of Longbeach and Lowcliffe. Other localities close to Lynnford are Willowby and Windermere to the north.
Aoraki Polytechnic was a public New Zealand tertiary education institution. Aoraki Polytechnic's main campus was based in central Timaru, South Canterbury, South Island. It also had campuses offering a variety of programmes in Ashburton, Oamaru, Christchurch and Dunedin. In March 2016, Aoraki Polytechnic merged with the Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology to form Ara Institute of Canterbury.
Wheatstone is a locality in the Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island. It is located on the Canterbury Plains south of Ashburton, on the banks of the Ashburton River / Hakatere. Other nearby settlements include Huntingdon to the north, Eiffelton and Flemington to the west, Ashton and Waterton to the south, and Riverside and Wakanui to the east on the opposite side of the Ashburton River / Hakatere. Wheatstone is slightly inland from the coastline of the Pacific Ocean.
State Highway 78 is a New Zealand State Highway connecting central Timaru with its port. It holds the record for New Zealand's shortest state highway, with a length of just over 900 metres (3,000 ft).
State Highway 71 is a New Zealand state highway connecting Kaiapoi/Christchurch with Rangiora.
The Orari River is a river of the south Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island. It rises to the northwest of the Four Peaks Range, initially flowing north then east to circumnavigate the range before flowing southeast across the Canterbury Plains. It reaches the Pacific Ocean 8 kilometres (5 mi) east of Temuka. The towns of Geraldine and Orari are both close to its banks. The river has been identified as an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International because it supports breeding colonies of the endangered black-billed gull.
The Otaio River is a river of the south Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island. It initially flows north from its source on the northern slopes of Mount Studholme in the Hunters Hills, turning northeast to enter the southern end of the Canterbury Plains. It then turns southeast, reaching the Pacific Ocean to the south of the town of St Andrews.

Opihi is a small rural district located in the Timaru District, New Zealand. It is located just north of Pleasant Point and just to the west of Temuka. Richard Pearse lived in the area and conducted his 1903 experiments in powered flight along the banks of the Ōpihi River.
The South Canterbury District Health Board was a district health board with the focus on providing healthcare to the Timaru, Mackenzie, Waimate districts in New Zealand. In July 2022, it was merged into the national health service Te Whatu Ora.
Opuha is a small rural district located in the Timaru District, New Zealand. It is located to the northwest of Pleasant Point and southeast of Fairlie. The Opuha Dam is also located within the district.

TeMoana is a locality in the Canterbury Region of the South Island of New Zealand. It is located about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) west of Geraldine and bordered by Gapes Valley and Pleasant Valley to the south and Four Peaks to the north. The south branch of the Hae Hae Te Moana River runs through the area.
