The park is located immediately south of the city's downtown core, bordered by residential areas on the east, south and west, and on the south-east edge it spills out onto open Saskatchewan prairie along Wascana Creek.

They are located 8 km northwest of Regina, Saskatchewan in a deep ravine carrying a tributary of the Qu'Appelle River. It is the largest mountain biking destination in the Regina area, offering trails of all difficulty levels. The more difficult trails climb in and out of the valley, while the easier ones are located in the bottom of the valley and are mostly flat.

While it existed, it was represented by NDP MLA Louise Simard. It was dissolved after the 1991 election, following a reduction in the amount of MLAs from 66 to 58. Its territory was divided between the ridings of Regina Lakeview and Regina South.
