Water skiing is a surface water sport in which an individual is pulled behind a boat or a cable ski installation over a body of water, skimming the surface on two skis or one ski. The sport requires sufficient area on a stretch of water, one or two skis, a tow boat with tow rope, two or three people, and a personal flotation device. In addition, the skier must have adequate upper and lower body strength, muscular endurance, and good balance.
A ski resort is a resort developed for skiing, snowboarding, and other winter sports. In Europe, most ski resorts are towns or villages in or adjacent to a ski area – a mountainous area with pistes and a ski lift system. In North America, it is more common for ski areas to exist well away from towns, so ski resorts usually are destination resorts, often purpose-built and self-contained, where skiing is the main activity.
The Toronto Varsity Blues is the intercollegiate sports program at the University of Toronto. Its 43 athletic teams regularly participate in competitions held by Ontario University Athletics and U Sports. The Varsity Blues traces its founding to 1877, with the formation of the men's football team. Since 1908, Varsity Blues athletes have won numerous medals in Olympic Games and Paralympic Games and have also long competed in International University Sports Federation championships, Commonwealth Games, and Pan American Games.
The 1999 Pan American Games, officially the XIII Pan American Games or the 13th Pan American Games, was a major international multi-sport event that was held from July 23 to August 8, 1999, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and surrounding towns and cities. Canoeing competitions started the day before the games officially begun. Approximately 5,000 athletes from 42 nations participated at the games. A total of 330 medal events in 34 sports and 42 disciplines.

Whitney McClintock is a Canadian water skier from Cambridge, Ontario. McClintock is a five time world champion. McClintock has also won thirteen Pan American Games medals.
Carol Ann MacDonald née Duthie was a Canadian water skier. She won multiple medals in water skiing including a bronze medal at the 1951 Water Ski World Championships. Duthie was posthumously inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
Natalia Cuglievan is a Peruvian water skier. She won gold medals for Peru at the 2015 and 2019 Pan American Games.

Llewellyn is a four-time Pan American Games Champion when he won gold in men's water skiing events at the games in 1999, 2003, and 2 gold at the 2007 games. He won two silver medals at the 2015 Pan American Games while competing at the age of 44, just one week shy of his birthday. He is an 11-time world champion, 12-time Pan American Games medalist, and owns a record 117 professional titles. His son Dorien Llewellyn is also a professional water skier with Pan American Games titles and his older brother Kreg Llewellyn was also a professional water skier.
