The 2006 Asian Games, officially known as the XV Asiad, was an Asian multi-sport event held in Doha, Qatar from December 1 to 15, 2006 with 424 events in 39 sports featured in the games. Doha was the first city in its region and only the second in West Asia to host the games.
Doha is the capital and most populous city of the State of Qatar. It has a population of 1,850,000. The city is located on the coast of the Persian Gulf in the east of the country. It is Qatar's fastest growing city, with over 80% of the nation's population living in Doha or its surrounding suburbs, and it is also the economic centre of the country.

A diuretic is any substance that promotes diuresis, the increased production of urine. This includes forced diuresis. There are several categories of diuretics. All diuretics increase the excretion of water from bodies, although each class does so in a distinct way. Alternatively, an antidiuretic, such as vasopressin, is an agent or drug which reduces the excretion of water in urine.

Weightlifting was contested by both men and women at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar from December 2 to December 6, 2006. There are seven weight categories for the women and eight for the men. All competition took place at the Banquet Hall, Al-Dana Club.
Ilya Aleksandrovich Ilyin is a Kazakhstani weightlifter who has won four world championships. On 12 December 2015 at the President's Cup in Grozny, Russia, Ilyin set two world records in the −105 kg class: in the clean and jerk (246 kg) and in the total of (437 kg). Ilyin was named IWF World Weightlifter of the Year four times: in 2005, 2006, 2014 and 2015.
Om Yun-chol or Um Yoon-chul is a North Korean weightlifter, Olympic Champion, and five time World Champion competing in the 56 kg category until 2018 and 55 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. He is 152 centimetres and weighs 55 kilograms (121 lb). Om represents the Amnokgang Sports Team.
